He climbed up a forward command post on a height to learn about the terrain conditions and troops deployment. He said that the soldiers of the unit are now demonstrating their might in the sacred service for the defence of the country by inheriting the proud tradition of the unit and that the colours of the unit is associated with the noble soul of the revolutionary martyrs who dedicated their youth and life to the party and the leader, the country and the people. He went to the headquarters of the unit and acquainted himself with the performance of its mission and the soldiers' living, going round a lecture room, an education room and a sleeping room. He gave the unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a picture taken with the commanding officers and soldiers of the unit. Then he visited a civil police company under the unit on guard duty at forefront post and gave a warm pep-talk to its soldiers. After acquainting himself with their military uniforms, he gave an instruction to supply more high quality uniforms to them who are performing the most difficult mission on the forefront. Getting familiar with the living conditions of the soldiers and seeing the sideline store, he expressed great satisfaction with the sideline job done well to provide a good diet to them. He gave the company a pair of binoculars, a machine gun and an automatic rifle as gifts and had a picture taken with its soldiers. That day he inspected a power station built by soldiers of KPA unit no. 415. Looking round different places of the power station, he highly appreciated the devoted efforts of the soldiers of the unit to contribute to the building of a prosperous and powerful nation. He was accompanied by Jo Myong Rok, director of the general political department of the KPA, Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the KPA, Kim Il Chol, Minister of the People's Armed Forces, and KPA generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol Hae and Pak Jae Gyong. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Police called in to break up sit-in strike in S. Korea Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The police was hurled yesterday into the scene of the sit-in strike called by unionists of the national bank and the housing bank in South Korea, Seoul-based "Yonhap News" (internet) said. At least 8,000 unionists have been on a nearly week-long over-night sit-in strike against the forcible merger of the two banks in the playground of the training institute of the national bank in Koyang city, Kyonggi Province. Upset by the high spirits of the workers, the police let two helicopters fly over them early in the morning and scatter 10,000 leaflets warning strikers of punishment. Then at least 7,000 policemen of 51 companies were hurled into the scene of the strike. The low-altitude flight of the helicopters made over 150 tents collapse all at once by blowing them even 30 metres off and causing fire in different places. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Japan's moves to draw up war constitution under fire Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- Shortly ago, the greatest faction within the Japanese ruling liberal democratic party worked out a draft report calling for the revision of the present constitution to enable Japan to exercise the "right to collective self-defence." The report calls for stipulating in the constitution such articles as allowing Japan to exercise the "right to collective self-defence" and keep troops for "self-defence" and designating "emperor" as "head of state" and permitting Japan to dispatch armed forces overseas to take part in joint military operations with U.S. forces. A signed commentary of Rodong Sinmun today dismisses this move as a very dangerous and serious one as it laid bare the aggressive nature and ambition of Japanese militarism. It says: There is a serious point at issue in Japan's moves to delete article 9 of its constitution whereby it painted itself as a "pacifist state". Its "peace constitution" has become a cumbersome and unnecessary thing for the Japanese reactionaries now that they have become a military power through militarization and rounded off preparations for overseas aggression in a bid to realise their old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere" at any cost. Political figures of Japan have long advocated the revision of the constitution but there has never been such a strong call for the revision of the constitution as what was made by the greatest faction of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party backed by the minister in charge of administrative reform of the present government. All these facts go to prove that the Japanese reactionaries' projected retrogressive revision of the constitution has become a fait accompli and they can draw up a war constitution anytime, the commentary notes, adding that the Japanese reactionaries should clearly know that the repetition of their past will lead them to self-destruction. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ South side's delegation arrives Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The delegation of the south side led by Ri Jong Jae, Vice-Minister of Finance and Economy, arrived here yesterday to participate in the first meeting of the north-south committee for the promotion of economic cooperation for the implementation of the north-south joint declaration. The chairman and members of the south side to the committee were greeted at the airport by members of the north side. Senior councillor of the DPRK cabinet Jon Kum Jin, head of the DPRK side to the inter-Korean ministerial talks, hosted a reception for the delegation of the south side at the people's palace of culture. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Dismantlement of concrete wall urged Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The Mexican Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification issued a statement on December 20, calling for demolishing the concrete wall. The statement expressed support to the Korean people in their struggle to reunify the country according to the three-point charter of Korea's reunification and said that the concrete wall built by the South Korean authorities servile to the united states is a symbol of division and confrontation in the era of the cold war. It held that the South Korean authorities should show their stand towards reunification by pulling down the concrete wall. It stressed that Korea should be reunified according to the proposal for founding the Democratic Federal Republic of Koryo. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Celebrations by Kothongryon Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The International United Confederation of Koreans (International Kothongryon) held a meeting in Uzbekistan on Dec. 22 to celebrate the ninth anniversary of the leader Kim Jong Il's election as Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army and the 83rd birth anniversary of the great communist revolutionary fighter Kim Jong Suk. Present there were members of the International Kothongryon and the United Confederation of Koreans and Koreans in the Uzbek Republic. Among them are "Brother Rabbits and a Wolf," "Brother and Sister and Woodman" and "a Kite Made By a Pig" and other puppet cartoons of great cognitional and educational significance among children and working people. The SEK capable of producing at least 2,000 films a year has brisk multilateral technological exchange including co-production and reception of orders at international cartoon markets and festivals. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Anniversary of Kim Il Sung's work marked Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- The great leader President Kim Il Sung published a famous work "On Eliminating Dogmatism and Formalism and Establishing Juche in Ideological Work" on December 28, Juche 44 (1955). The work elucidates theoretical and practical issues in establishing Juche in the revolution and construction including the matter of surbodinating the ideological work of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) to the Korean revolution and the matter of bringing up the party members and other working people as revolutionaries firmly equipped with the revolutionary idea of the party. Rodong Sinmun today in an article says that the publication of the work helped firmly preserve Juche character in the ideological work of the party and intensify the drive to establish Juche in all fields of the revolution and construction. The article recalls that Kim Il Sung's whole history of revolutionary activities is a history of the struggle to establish Juche. He performed immortal feats in building the party, the state and the army of Juche type and constructing an independent national economy and national culture, the article notes, and continues: The feat made by him in the protracted struggle to establish Juche was that he laid down an ideological and theoretical guideline for the Korean revolution to dynamically advance along the road of Juche, completely unaffected by flunkeyism and dogmatism.
