On the request of the Tudeh Party of Iran we forward you the following
solidarity statement. Several parties have already expressed their
support. The comrades of Tudeh forward this appeal to every other
eventually interested party.

In solidarity with the people of Iran
We, the undersigned parties and political organizations, who have
consistently supported the struggle of the Iranian people and
progressive and democratic forces for human and democratic rights
declare:
- We have followed with concern the news about widespread onslaught of
the conservative and reactionary forces against the newspapers and
publications advocating reform and the arrest of tens of independent
thinking writers, editors and journalists.
- We have also witnessed that the authorities have persecuted through
inquisitionary type courts, a number of Iranian political and social
personalities who are campaigning for reforms,
Taking into consideration the above points we:
1- demand immediate and unconditional release of all political prisoners
in Iran
2- While condemning the torture and harassment of the imprisoned
journalists and writers we demand that relevant international bodies to
investigate the increase in pressure and climate of suppression in Iran
during the recent months,
3- while condemning the formation of inquisitionary type courts during
the recent months against the freethinking characters, we declare our
solidarity with them and demand their unconditional freedom
4- we express our militant solidarity with all progressive and
democratic forces in Iran who are struggling for freedom, democracy and
social justice in difficult and complex situation prevailing in Iran.
