Anti-NATO demonstration of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE)

* Common action of all for the dissolution of NATO

Thousands of people, of all ages, gathered in the centre
of Athens, yesterday, 25/1, to demonstrate against NATO's barbarism.
Workers, youth, elderly, mothers, communists and people with other
ideologies. All together, they marched by the greek parliament, to the
offices of the European Union and ended in front of the embassy of the
United States of America. "Now, the antiimperialist struggle is a
struggle for life". When they reached infront of the American Embassy
everyone shouted "murderers, murderers". A paper missle is covered with
the flag of the murderers, the american, and the demonstraters put it on
fire. The same thing happened earlier while the demonstrators passed by
the offices of the European Union, where the burnt the EU flag.

Before and after the speeches made, there were sketches. The
main speech was made by Dimitris Gondikas, member of the Polit Beauro of
the Communist Party of Greece. Also Kostas Kazakos, a famous actor,
delived a speech and a message of greetings by Themistoklis
Xanthopoulos, rector of the National Polytechnic University was read.

On the main platform was written: "NATO and Americans, Out! The
only superpower is the people".

Other slogans shouted by the protesters were: "Murderers of the
people, Americans", "the Greek soldiers are the children of the people,
we have no reason to be out of our boarders", "With uranium bombs you
kill the people, we answer with massive struggle", "NATO, out of the
Balkans", "Imperialism is the enemy", "the Greek soldiers are not for
sacrifice, they should be brought back now from Yugoslavia", "Kick the
murderes of Brussels out, down with the new order of the
imperialists","Eight decades of struggle and sacrifice, the KKE
(Communist Party of Greece) in the vanguard".

A new demonstration will take place on February 8, organized by
the Labour Centrer of Athens, that unites all trade unions in the area
of Athens, supported also by a lot of popular organizations as well.
