THE SUSURLUK AUTHORITIES HAVE RESUMED THEIR POLICY OF DISAPPEARANCES WHERE IS YUSUF KIRMIZIOGLU? The authorities are attacking everyone who opposes them. Following the prison massacres and the 'F' Type prisons, the repression and bans on all sections of the opposition are continuing without a break. The authorities have resumed their "policy of disappearances" which they practised for years as a means of cowing the revolutionary-democratic opposition, alongside all their other methods of repression. On January 6, YUSUF KIRMIZIOGLU and on January 28 the HADEP (People's Democracy Party) officials SERDAR TANIS and EBUBEKIR DENIZ disappeared. For years the authorities used massacres, executions, torture, detention and disappearances to silence, intimidate and destroy the opposition, but for a time it appeared that they had given up making people disappear. Now they are making use of this policy again. The authorities are intimidating the entire people, saying with the prison massacre and the disappearances that "if you wage a struggle, I will kill you or make you disappear," and this is the perfect expression of the Susurluk state's practices. Massacres, torture and disappearances are the Susurluk state. YUSUF KIRMIZIOGLU has been missing since January 6! YUSUF KIRMIZIOGLU: born in 1974 in Hatay-Serinyol (southern Turkey, near the Syrian border); father' s name: IZZETTIN, mother's name: BEHRIYE 1. At 9:30 in the morning on January 5, 2001, he got on a TRUVA company bus travelling from Ayvacik to Izmir. 2. At 10 in the evening on January 5 he got on a bus travelling from Izmir to Istanbul. 3. At 7 in the morning on January 6 he got out of the bus in Istanbul. 4. At 1145 on January 6, 2001, he phoned an acquaintance, said he was all right, and this is the last that anyone has heard from him. 5. Yusuf's telephone number is 0535 257 1499. 6. He was not detained in either his flat or his workplace. 7. Yusuf was being sought by the state and was carrying an ID in the name of AZIZ GUNGOR. All those who say they are on the side of democracy and justice; all those who say they are against the policies associated with Susurluk; the policies of unrestrained repression are the policies of Susurluk. It is the duty of everyone to oppose these policies. YUSUF KIRMIZIOGLU, SERDAR TANIS and EBUBEKIR DENIZ are missing. Others may also be made to disappear! LET US DEMAND TO KNOW WHERE THE DISAPPEARED ARE! February 7, 2001 PLATFORM FOR RIGHTS AND FREEDOMS
