Kim Jong Il inspects KPA unit
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il inspected KPA unit no.
173 on Thursday. Accompanying him were KPA generals Ri Myong Su, Hyon Chol
Hae and Pak Jae Gyong, secretary of the WPK central committee Kim Kuk Thae
and others.
��� Kim Jong Il visited the unit's company honoured with the twice
three-revolution red flag.
��� He took warm care of the living of the soldiers, going round an
education room, lecture room, bedroom, mess, provision store, bathroom and
other places of the company.
��� He was greatly satisfied with the fact that the company, well equipped
with entertainment and service facilities, has provided the soldiers with
good living conditions and highly praised them for their feats.
��� He earnestly called upon all the commanding officers to always pay
primary attention to the supply service and provide the best living
conditions to the dear soldiers, well aware of its importance.
��� He gave soldiers an automatic rifle as a gift and had a picture taken
with them.
��� Then he dropped in at the unit's command and heard a report on the
situation from the unit's commander. He acquainted himself in detail with
the performance of the unit's duty and training, going round an operation
command room, lecture room and other places.
��� He noted with great satisfaction that all the servicemen of the unit
have grown to be a-match-for-a-hundred combatants capable of firmly
defending the country's defence line through their energetic endeavours to
implement the WPK's military line for self-defence and put forward highly
important tasks which would serve as a guideline in further increasing the
combat capacity of the unit.
��� He met with soldiers of the unit and posed for a photograph with them.

Greetings to 19th congress of Chongryon
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The presidium of the Supreme People's
Assembly of the DPRK on May 24 sent a message of greetings to the 19th
congress of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan
(Chongryon). The presidium in the message highly estimated that in the
period under review Chongryon has steadily strengthened and developed the
movement of Koreans in Japan and performed brilliant patriotic feats for the
homeland and the people by stoutly overcoming the manifold trials and
difficulties with unwavering patriotic faith and will.
��� The 19th congress of Chongryon is a congress of unity, a congress of
loyalty which will proudly review the past three-year patriotic movement
which concluded the 20th century in which the movement of Koreans in Japan
was hewed out and made a triumphant progress, set forth a new milestone of
the patriotic cause of Chongryon in the 21st century and give full play to
the concerted might and invincible spirit of the ranks of Chongryon, the
message noted.
��� It wished the congress greater success in its work, believing that it
will mark an epochal occasion in laying a new springboard in the development
of the Juche-based movement of Koreans in Japan in the 21st century.

South Korea-U.S. joint commando exercise planned
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- A "South Korea-U.S. joint commando
exercise" involving drill instructors of the defence education centre at the
MP base of the 7th U.S. air force in South Korea would be held from May 28,
radio no. 1 reported in Seoul. It is a military drill to be staged at the
request made by the U.S. forces side to the South Korean military
authorities for "successfully carrying out South Korea-U.S. joint
operation".
��� It was reported that members of the commando specializing in terrorism
from the "golden eagle" unit of the South Korean army would participate in
the exercise.

Sub rescuing exercise in S. Korea
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The South Korean navy has recently staged
the two-phase drill for rescuing submarines on the East Sea of Korea,
Seoul-based radio no. 1 reported. Involved in the rehearsal sponsored by the
naval operation command were ships for rescuing submarines, a salvaging
corps and submarine.
��� A commanding officer of the drill underscored the need to stage a
sustained drill to increase the capacity of rescuing submarines, saying that
the underwater war would be a main key to victory in the naval warfare.

U.S. hostile stand towards DPRK assailed
��� New Delhi, May 23 (KCNA) -- The All India Indo-Korean Friendship
Association issued a statement on May 16 denouncing U.S. deputy Secretary of
State Armitage for his hostile remark against the DPRK. Recalling that
during his visit to India he said the U.S. "missile defense" system is
targeted against such "rogue states" as the DPRK, the statement condemned
the U.S. for pointing an accusing finger at the DPRK, in particular.
��� The statement noted that his remark is aimed to cool down the ties
between the DPRK and India and deceive the world people with a fiction of
the "missile threat" from the DPRK.
��� It is a well-known fact that the DPRK cannot pose a threat to any
countries including the U.S. which styles itself the "only superpower", it
said.
��� It stated that today when the Cold War is over MD will spark a new arms
race in the world.

Apology for GIs' mass killings of civilians called for
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The South Korean Catholic priests' council
for justice held a press conference before the monument to March 15 martyrs
in Masan, South Kyongsang Province, on May 22, Seoul-based Yonhap News
reported. The organization demanded the U.S. forces' side make an official
apology for killing innocent civilians in cold blood in Kokan-ri,
Jinjon-myon of the city during the last Korean War.
��� Earlier, members of the organization went round the site of GIs'
massacre and held a memorial service in front of the monument.

��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- Korean pharmacists succeeded in producing
such foods good for health as "Hyolgung Bullo-Jong" (r) and "Kumgang
Chonghyol." The foods are traditional health additives skillfully formulated
from the effective derivatives of a famous Korean dietary elixir on the
strength of a highly sophisticated technology.
��� "Hyolgung Bullo-Jong" (r) is very efficacious for the prevention and
cure of numb or paralysed limbs, speech disorder, giddiness and debility and
such diseases as high- or low-blood pressure, angina pectoris and myocardial
infraction.
��� It swiftly dissolves fibrin or principal constituent of thrombus, and
activates tissue plasminogen activator (TPA), and thus boosts the
thrombus-dissolving self-capacity of living bodies.
��� Each capsule of "Hyolgung Bullo-Jong" (r) contains 10,000 i.u. of
Nattokinase (an instant thrombus-dissolver) and 2,000 i.u. of elastase.
��� According to clinical records over the last decade, this food has been
applied to tens of thousands of patients, out of which 90 resulted in
complete cure.
��� This food effectively dissolved thrombi in the blood within 2-3 hours
after intake, thus relieving thrombus-related symptoms as speech disorder,
numb and paralyzed limbs.

First conference of IMGC closes
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The first conference of the International
Martial Art Games Committee (IMGC) that opened in Pyongyang on Wednesday
closed yesterday. Discussions on a series of agenda items continued at the
conference that day.
��� The conference decided to hold the first international martial art games
in Pyongyang in 2003 and set up the headquarters (secretariat) of the
committee in the DPRK.
��� Vice-chairman of the DPRK physical culture and sports guidance committee
Jang Ung was elected vice-chairman of the IMGC and Jong Jae Hun appointed as
its secretary general.
��� President of the International Taekwon-do Federation Choe Hong Hui who
is chairman of the IMGC made a speech at the closing ceremony of the
conference.
��� On the same day choe gave a reception in connection with the success of
the conference.

U.S. troop pullout from S. Korea urged
��� Pyongyang, May 25 (KCNA) -- The United States should withdraw its troops
from South Korea at an early date now that there remains neither
justification nor ground for it to keep them there, says Rodong Sinmun today
in a signed article. It goes on:
��� The north and the south adopted the agreement on non-aggression and the
June 15 Joint Declaration. The former Soviet Union collapsed and the north's
former and present allies established diplomatic relations with South Korea.
��� And "strategic partnership" was established among big powers around the
Korean peninsula. All these facts give the lie to the logic that U.S.
forces' presence in South Korea is necessary.
��� The earlier the U.S. troop pullback from South Korea, the better because
it will help bring earlier the day of Korea's reunification, given the fact
that its presence is a stumbling block in its way.
��� The earliest pullback of the U.S. troops is also helpful to ensuring
peace and security in Asia and the rest of the world.
��� It will also do the U.S. good.
��� The United States' pullback of its troops from South Korea is a
touchstone showing whether it is willing to rectify its hostile policy to
stifle the DPRK or not and whether it is interested in the reunification and
peace in Korea or not.
��� If it persistently pursues the policy of military occupation of South
Korea swimming against the trend of the times in the new century, it will
stand strongly rebuffed and condemned internally and externally.
