Independent and peaceful reunification of Korea supported
New Delhi, June 8 (KCNA) -- A meeting commemorating the first
anniversary of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration was held at the
Indian Institute of Socialist Education on June 4 under the co-sponsorship
of the All India Indo-Korean Friendship Association and the Indian Committee
for Supporting Korea's Reunification. At the meeting the reporter and
speakers said that the declaration is a landmark for Korea's reunification
provided thanks to the patriotic idea and courageous decision of leader Kim
Jong Il and that Korea should be reunified peacefully at an early date
according to the declaration.
Anti-reunification elements of South Korea are tightening the political
and military ties with foreign forces against the DPRK, which is in
contravention of the spirit of the declaration and a deliberate move to
bring north-south relations back to those of confrontation in the past, they
noted, and went on:
The U.S. should stop the moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK and
withdraw its troops and nuclear weapons from South Korea.
The Indian people will extend full support and solidarity to the Korean
people in their struggle to reunify the country on the principle of national
independence.
A solidarity message to Kim Jong Il was adopted at the meeting.

Remark of president of Grand National Party assailed
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The spokesman for the National Democratic
Front of South Korea released a statement on June 6 denouncing Ri Hoe Chang,
president of the Grand National Party, and his henchmen for their remarks
chilling the desire of the compatriots for reunification and inciting
confrontation with the DPRK recently, according to Seoul-based Voice of
National Salvation. Recalling that not content with echoing the Bush
administration's talk about "reciprocity" and "transparency," Ri Hoe Chang,
some days ago, did not bother to let loose outcries pulling up the DPRK over
the tour of Mt. Kumgang and its "human rights issue" and describing the
north as their "principal enemy," the spokesman accused his party
heavyweights of opposing the "June 15 Grand Seminar on National
Reunification."
He termed Ri Hoe Chang's such act of blocking the implementation of the
June 15 joint declaration, indifferent to the country, the nation and the
reunification, an unpardonable anti-national move as it challenges the
desire and aspiration of the nation for reconciliation and unity and a
despicable pro-U.S. flunkeyist and traitorous act of meekly following the
U.S. hardline policy to stifle the DPRK in utter disregard of the interests
of the nation.
Such traitors and stumbling blocks lying in the way of reunification as
Ri Hoe Chang should be immediately eliminated today when there is a bright
prospect of national reunification, the spokesman said, adding:
Ri Hoe Chang should stop behaving indiscreetly, well aware of the will
of the people for the independent reunification of the nation in the new
century.
Our people will decisively smash the splittist moves of a handful of
anti-reunification traitors such as Ri Hoe Chang and join hands with the
compatriots in the north in the efforts to achieve the independent and
peaceful reunification of the country as early as possible and build a
strong and prosperous nation on this land without fail.

"Koreans' European Solidarity" inaugurated
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The "Koreans' European Solidarity" formed
in Germany reportedly made public its inaugural declaration on May 20.
Recalling that various Koreans' organizations were formed in Japan, Americas
and Germany to conduct energetic activities during the last period, the
declaration noted that the organization was inaugurated to group all the
democratic organizations and personages in Europe in order to meet the need
to develop the solidarity body.
The declaration said that the organization has taken its first giant
stride to achieve the independent and peaceful reunification of the country.
it would wage a movement of compatriots to suit the specific conditions in
countries they reside, defend the unity and democratic rights and interests
of the compatriots and cooperate and strengthen solidarity with all the
Koreans abroad desirous of national unity in the future, the declaration
said.

Anniversary of June 10 anti-Japanese demonstration observed
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates a signed
article to the 75th anniversary of the June 10 anti-Japanese demonstration.
The June 10 anti-Japanese demonstration was a just resistance of the Korean
people against the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule and a mass
anti-Japanese patriotic struggle to retake the usurped country and national
sovereignty. Noting that the aspiration of the June 10 anti-Japanese
demonstrators has not yet been realized on a nation-wide scale, the article
says:
The U.S. imperialists' domination and interference are a main obstacle
to the independent and peaceful reunification of the Korean nation.
The U.S. imperialists have escalated political and military
confrontation and tensions between the north and the south, invariably
pursuing a policy of confrontation and war against the DPRK for over half a
century.
The anti-reunification forces and military warmongers of South Korea are
blatantly challenging the cause of independent national reunification,
favouring the U.S. imperialists' policy to stifle the DPRK in collusion with
them. The Japanese reactionaries are whetting their swords to stage a
comeback to Korea, pursuant to the U.S. imperialists' hostile policy towards
the DPRK and keeping pace with their moves to provoke a new war.
The Korean people, who have witnessed the start of the new history of
independent national reunification, will never allow the U.S. imperialists
and the Japanese reactionaries to trample down the dignity and sovereignty
of the Korean nation and block national reunification.
National independence serves as a pro-reunification patriotic banner
which can never be bartered for anything in the light of either the present
political situation or tasks before the Korean people. National
reunification can be achieved only through a vigorous struggle against
outside forces and for independence.
In order to protect national dignity and sovereignty and realize
national reunification in conformity with the will and interests of the
nation it is necessary to reject flunkeyism and dependence on foreign forces
and resolutely struggle against foreign forces' aggression and interference.
The whole Korean nation should continue to make a dynamic advance for
independent national reunification in the spirit of the June 15 joint
declaration.

U.S. urged to change its attitude
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The Bush administration is strongly
denounced at home and abroad for recklessly pushing forward the
establishment of "Missile Defence" system (MD). In this regard Rodong Sinmun
today in a signed commentary says:
This is attributable to high-handed and arbitrary practices the Bush
administration has perpetrated while persistently pursuing an isolationist
and conservative policy after failing to face up to the trend of the times.
Independence, peace and friendship have become a mainstream of the times
and the 21st century will be a century of peace and cooperation.
It is the hope of the world people to achieve independent progress and
prosperity in the new century, helping and cooperating with each other in a
peaceful environment free from aggression and war. The leftovers of the old
era such as isolationist and conservative policy and high-handed and
arbitrary practices can no longer go down with anyone in the new century.
The Bush administration is well advised to behave itself, properly
understanding the changed times and the aspiration and demand of the people.
There is no need to say that the U.S. will stand more strongly protested
and denounced and thoroughly isolated at home and abroad in the future if it
continues behaving as now.
The U.S. is well advised to draw a lesson from this and change its
attitude.

Choe Won Ik dies
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The central committee of the Workers'
Party of Korea and the presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea released an obituary of Choe Won Ik on
June 9. It says: Choe Won Ik, chief secretary of the Kangwon provincial

Juche till the last moments of his life.
