Ophthalmic Health Conference, Held at Finland Votes for the Palestinian
Medical Relief to be a Member of the Regional Committee
Palestinian Medical Relief Committee was elected as a permanent member in
the regional committee of the Middle East and North Africa in the
international ophthalmic Health Conference that was held in Finland
recently. 
This was during the conference which was held at the Finnish capital city,
Helsinki.This was the first Arab representation which the Medical Relief has
in such a committee which the Arab countries have been absent from its
membership since the previous long period.
Mrs. Khayria Al-Kharoof was the representative of the Palestinian Medical
Relief Committee in the conference in which she delivered a word before the
attendants of the conference.
She asserted in her speech the distinguished role, which the Palestinian
Medical Relief Committee has played since its establishment in 1979
throughout concentrating on offering First Aid and medical services to the
citizens almost for free. She confirmed as well the role of the PMRC in
developing the health systems, which have become an example of the
countries, which got a benefit from these systems.
Mrs. Khayria added that the PMRC would supervise a work program with the
World Health Organization deals with fighting blindness on the international
and local levels. 
Electing the PMRC as a member in the regional Committee in the Middle East
and North Africa becomes as an award to the PMRC for gaining the WHO Prize
for the year 2001, which it received last month.

Palestinian Citizen martyred, and Other Three Injured Few Hours After Israel
Declares Cease-Fire
Few hours after Israeli minister of defense, Benjamin Ali-Aizer, declared
the beginning of carrying out Cease-Fire between the Israelis and the
Palestinians, a terrorist Jewish group opened fire yesterday towards a
Palestinian lorry near Hezma area at Hebron.
The Jewish settlers shooting resulted in killing 45-year-old Awni
Abdel-Ra'of Ali Hada, of the passengers of the lorry, and injuring other
three. Israeli sources said yesterday night that a fanatic Jewish group
calls itself "Shelhaneet Gela'ad" declared the responsibility of the
shooting accident.
