Havana, June29 (AIN) The return of the five compatriots jailed in the
US was claimed by the more than 40 thousand Cubans gathered at the Anti-
Imperialist Tribune Jose Marti, by the US Interests Section in Havana, with
the presence of Cuban President Fidel Castro.
Commanders of the Revolution Ramiro Valdes and Guillermo Garcia , as
well as Members of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party, the
government and mass organizations were present at the ceremony in Havana
today.
Combatants as Ezel Ricardo Arias and Jorge Luis Alonso Contreras
denounced the tricks carried out in the US against the five compatriots who
are suffering the inequities of the US prison system.
Jessie Dominguez Reyes, a student from the National Ballet School said
the heroes jailed in Miami are exponents of high culture given by the
Revolution to its children in the course of four decades.
Other speakers unmasked Washington's cynical behavior against those
who have heroically fulfilled their duty of protecting their people from
terrorism and their sensibility responds to the noble and cultural ideas
acquired during the revolutionary struggle.
In the sunny morning the poem "Such Rage is no Good for Me", by
Uruguayan poet Mario Benedetti, was read, while the artistic group "La
Colmenita", the "Moncada Gorup" and the singer Silvio Rodriguez closed the
ceremony with their art.
Standing, those present listened to the song "Amada" interpreted by
its author, Silvio Rodrguez that has turned into a symbol for Ramon
Labaino and the rest of the Cubans imprisoned in Miami.
At the end of the event ,which was eloquent in expressing the people's
decision to keep in combat, the top leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro,
talked with relatives of the Cubans imprisoned in Miami and who were sent to
"the hole", a punishing section in prison , as a reprisal for the attitude
of the Cuban people in solidarity with their jailed compatriots.
