12th US-Cuba Friendshipment Caravan reaches Texas
The almost 100 Caravanistas, from across the US, Canada, Mexico,
England, Germany and Sweden have arrived in San Antonio from the
routes. During their stops at 62 cities in the US and Canada, they
participated in educational events, pot luck suppers and parties as
well as press conferences and interviews -- all part of educating the
public throughout the US about the US government's policies toward
Cuba.
At the stop in San Antonio, they are checking and making manifests of
over 75 tons of humanitarian aid, including the complete contents of
several doctors offices, over 600 Intravenous pumps, solar panels and
other solar power generating equipment, ambulances donated by the
Cuban Solidarity Campaign of the UK, a complete mobile bike repair
shop, and much much more.
Early Monday morning, July 2, they will set out for the US-Mexican
border, where they will attempt to cross with all the aid and without
requesting a license from the US government.
At the same time, Let Cuba Live (Maine), Caravane d'Amite Quebec /
Cuba and The Quebec Cuba Friendship Association (Canada) are planning
a border crossing from Maine to Montreal -- a two-border challenge to
the Blockade of Cuba.
