Reception given for Cuban military delegation
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The general staff of the Korean People's
Army yesterday arranged a reception in honour of the Cuban military
delegation. Vice marshal Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the
KPA, in his speech said that the friendly relations between the two
countries forged on the basis of the particularly close relations between
President Kim Il Sung and respected Fidel Castro Ruz have grown strong and
developed in the anti-imperialist and anti-U.S. joint struggle for over 40
years.
��� He went on to say:
��� Now the friendly relations have been put on a higher plane under the
profound care of Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro Ruz.
��� The Cuban comrades have achieved many successes in their efforts to
further strengthen the party and the army and develop the economy,
overcoming difficulties in the "special period of peace times." And the
vicious moves of the U.S. imperialists to internationalize the anti-Cuba
blockade have been checked and frustrated and international support and
solidarity with the just cause of the Cuban people are growing stronger. we
rejoice over all these achievements as over our own.
��� The people and the army of Korea will always stand by the people and the
army of Cuba and voice positive support and solidarity with their just cause
to defend the sovereignty of the country and advance socialism victoriously.
��� The head of the Cuban delegation colonel general Alvaro Lopez Miera,
vice-minister of the revolutionary armed forces and chief of the general
staff, in his speech said that though the imperialists' pressure and moves
for aggression against Cuba and the DPRK are further escalating as the days
go by the unbreakable friendship between the two countries provided by the
two great leaders Fidel Castro Ruz and Kim Il Sung is steadily growing
stronger and developing under the care of Kim Jong Il.
��� The peoples of the two countries have stood against the aggressive moves
of the reactionary forces led by the present U.S. administration in all
fields and achieved new important successes in the struggle, he noted.
��� He expressed the belief that their visit to Korea would make a great
contribution to further consolidating and developing the friendship and
solidarity between the peoples of the two fraternal countries advancing
under the uplifted banner of socialism.

Over 2,000 poems eulogize Kim Il Sung
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Korean poets have written at least 2,000
poems eulogizing the greatness and immortal exploits of President Kim Il
Sung for the last 7 years since July 1994. Among them are epics "Comrade Kim
Il Sung, Our Eternal Leader," "The Leader Will Always Be With Us" and "The
Pyongyang Time Will Be Eternal" and lyrics "Oh Our Leader," "Great
Immortality," "Time of Korea" and "Lay of Korea in 1997."
��� The poems represent his greatness about which people failed to know in
his lifetime, their high praise of his immortal exploits and their noble
idea that the president lives forever thanks to leader Kim Jong Il.

U.S. and Japanese hostile policies toward DPRK condemned
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- An international symposium of unions of
agricultural and foodstuff industrial workers held in Moscow on June 23
adopted a joint statement condemning the hostile policies of the U.S. and
Japanese authorities toward the DPRK. The statement brought to light the
U.S. and Japanese hostile policies toward the DPRK and vehemently denounced
the new U.S. administration's hostile policy toward the DPRK and military
moves to stifle it as reckless criminal acts threatening the independent and
peaceful reunification of Korea and peace and security of the Korean
peninsula and the rest of the world.
��� The statement strongly demanded that the bush administration stop its
moves to isolate and stifle the DPRK at once, immediately improve relations
with the DPRK and take a practical measure for promoting the reconciliation,
unity and peaceful reunification of the Korean nation.
��� The statement called upon peasants' organisations and agricultural
workers of different countries to conduct positive solidarity activities to
support the struggle of the Korean people for national reunification and
castigate the U.S. and Japanese authorities for obstructing the
implementation of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration in response to
an appeal of the international liaison committee for reunification and peace
in Korea which calls for setting a "period of international solidarity
movement for promoting the independent reunification of Korea" from April to
October.

National fine art exhibition opens
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- A national fine art exhibition "The Great
Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung Will Always Be With Us" opened at the Pyongyang
International House of Culture yesterday. Displayed in the exhibition hall
are at least 50 Korean paintings, oil paintings, graphic paintings and
embroidery works including fine art works depicting the president.
��� The Korean painting "sun of all people", the oil painting "the fatherly
leader visiting the milch cow farm", the graphic painting "President Kim Il
Sung among those engaged in the postwar rehabilitation and construction",
the Korean painting "the president always remembered by people" and many
other works deal with the immortal feats of the president.
��� Also on display in the exhibition hall are the oil painting
"retrospecting the fatherly leader's behests" and the poster "we will always
emerge victorious under the leadership of the great Kim Jong Il" and other
works depicting the noble traits of leader Kim Jong Il.

General Hospital of Koryo Medicine
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The General Hospital of Koryo Medicine
built on Munsu Street in East Pyongyang has recently started operation.
Housing a traditional medical service and medical science research centre,
the hospital has a total floor area of 14,500 square metres. It consists of
two main buildings with more than 400 beds for in-patients, functional
diagnostics rooms, theatres for surgery and treatment rooms fitted with
up-to-date facilities, as well as dozens of out-patient rooms.
��� Inside the hospital is an internal treatment hospital, a surgery,
institutes of acupuncture and moxibustion, constitution, Koryo medicine and
pharmacy, a clincial laboratory and a pharmacology department.
��� Its history traces back to February Juche 50 (1961), when a native
medicine institute was inaugurated. Since then, the hospital has made great
achievements.
��� In particular, a tangible contribution was made in the treatment of
stomach cancer, spontaneous gangrene, epilepsy, acute pains and other
obstinate diseases, and in research into methods of early diagnosis of liver
cancer. In the course of this, more than 160 medical workers have won
academic awards, including doctor of medical science.
��� Access is also allowed to foreigners.
��� More than 100 books on medical science have been published, including
the data book on internal medicine research, dictionary of Koryo medicine
and encyclopedia of family medicine. Medical workers at the hospital also
translated and published Korea's medieval books on native medicine,
including Uibangryuchi, a medical encyclopedia work (a total of 266 volumes
consisting of 60,000 pages), Tonguibogam (25 volumes in 5 parts), a medical
book in which native medicine is rounded into a complete system, and
Hyangyakjipsongbang (85 volumes) giving detailed instructions about the
method of prescribing medicine by using local medicinal herbs.

Rodong Sinmun on exploits of President Kim Il Sung
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed
article entitled "the great comrade kim il sung is a peerlessly great man
who laid an eternal foundation for building a powerful nation". The article
says:
��� What is conspicuous of the immortal exploits performed by Kim Il Sung in
laying an eternal foundation for the building of a powerful nation is that
he strengthened and developed the DPRK into an invincible military power
with his army-first revolutionary leadership.
��� He always exerted primary efforts to significantly increase our military
capability for 50 years after the liberation of the country.
��� With a deep insight into the truth that the issue of succession to the
commandership over revolutionary armed forces is of vital importance in
shaping the future of a country and a nation.
��� In the last period of his life he earnestly called on our party, army
and people to uphold Kim Jong Il's leadership with loyalty.
��� Kim Jong Il is pursuing army-first politics as intended by Kim Il Sung

20th century was a great victory of the army-first politics of Kim Jong Il
who, depending on the strong military foundation laid by Kim Il Sung, has
successfully inherited and developed his exploits and experience gained with
the army-first revolutionary leadership.
��� Kim Il Sung provided a steady continuity to the tradition of
single-hearted unity and created all conditions for achieving the overall
prosperity and development of the country. this is another important aspect
of his exploits performed in laying an eternal foundation for building a
powerful nation.
��� He was the first in the human history of politics to advance benevolent
politics, thus achieving the single-hearted unity of the ranks of the party
and the revolution and giving a steady continuity to its tradition with a
foresight as to the future of the country.

Message of sympathy to Peruvian President
��� Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the presidium of
the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on June 28 sent a message of sympathy to
Peruvian President Valentin Paniagua Corazao in connection with the great
damage done to the southern part of Peru by a strong earthquake. Upon
hearing the news that the southern part of Peru was hard hit by a strong
earthquake on June 23, the message expressed deep sympathy and consolation
to the president and, through him, to the people in the afflicted area and
hoped that the Peruvian government and people would recover from the
earthquake damage and bring the living of the population in the afflicted
area to normal at an early date.

People's Army, received a gift from general Raul Castro Ruz, minister of the

vice marshal Kim Yong Chun, chief of the KPA general staff, by colonel
general Alvaro Ropez Miera, vice-minister of the revolutionary armed forces

ee.uu. fortalecen las maniobras para desatar la segunda guerra coreana
calificando a la rpdc de su "enemigo principal no.1". el comentario senala
en particular:
��� blare, comandante en jefe del ejercito estadounidense en la region del
pacifico durante su reciente permanencia en sudcorea profirio las palabras
belicosas de que la rpdc es el "enemigo principal no.1 de ee.uu." y aquella
podria atacar con misiles a sudcorea y el japon.
��� las palabras belicosas de blare coinciden con que la administracion de
bush recurre mas que nunca a la politica intransigente de aplastar a la rpdc
y habla de la "cooperacion" de caracter agresivo con el japon y sudcorea, lo

el camino del enfrentamiento y la guerra contra la rpdc.
