MADRID.- Hundreds of sympathizers with the Cuban Revolution
marched to Ronda de Atocha, Tirso de Molina Square, in the
center of Madrid, to mark the 26th of July anniversary of the
attack on Moncada Garrison.

They carried placards in support of Cuba and against the U.S.
blockade of the island.

A declaration was read in the name of some 30 Spanish social
organisations, including the Ernesto Guevara Corredor del
Henares-Cuba Friendship Association; the Bartolem de las
Casas Hispanic-Cuba Friendship Association; the Pablo de la
Torriente Brau Cultural Association; the Peoples of America
Casa; IU Madrid; Caum; AFAPP; and Friends of the Sahara.

The document states: "We are taking the opportunity of the
26th of July to reaffirm our solidarity with the Cuban
Revolution and continue denouncing the blockade of Cuba, as
well as denouncing neoliberalism and the politics and
ideologies that attempt to perpetuate capitalism."

Another part of the declaration reads: "We must also denounce
the measures, statements and involvement of the Spanish
government (the first to help Mr. Bush in his arms race) in
U.S. policy. When President Bush visited our country, Aznar
acted like a complete lackey and thanked President Bush for
his sensitivity towards Latin America."
