From: "Carlos A. Rivera" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Comrades: After almost two week of inactivity in the Internet, I communicate again. The call of the viequense fight has been in a more intense form than what previously had been demanded. The Socialist Movement of Workers-MST (organization of which I am member) understands that there are two tactics of civil disobedience for penetration in the Occupied Zone in Vieques, complementary and necessary. One is the to be arrested in penetration, where the intention is to call the attention on the Ocuppation, using personalities of the local and international politics, figures of the arts and members of religious organizations of ample support, so that the arrest in iself t becomes a protest form. The other is the tactic of penetration and interruption, where the objective is to manage to penetrate the Occupied Zone, to arrive at the Zone of Practice, and by means of flares, placards of showy colors, installation of automatic devices of noise and lights, and obvious (but slippery) physical precesence, managed to stop the practices. After several days in operations of interruption, the idea is to leave without being arrested. The MST understands that it must concentrate his efforts in the second tactic, starting off of two premises: 1) Jail obtains very little. 2) Stop the bombing is the effective form of civil disobedience, since it causes the greatest political, military and economic harm to the Navy. Already the Navy had failed to stop our previous brigades, that obtained their objectives, including leaving without being detected. I went to Vieques like part of the Brigade of Penetration and Interruption " Luisa Capetillo " of the MST (Luisa was the first socialist * and * feminist leader of Puerto Rico), that next to the Brigade " Carlos Muniz Varela " (anti-imperialist Cuban assassinated by the Cuban fascists in exile in Puerto Rico), with the task of implementing this tactic. The Brigade " Carlos Muniz Varela " (first brigade) was able to penetrate the land, evading the strong monitoring, in Tuesday 31st of July. The 2 of August, it started to operate in the zone of practice, when beginning the exercises, obtaining to interrupt them in many ocassions. The 4 of August, the Brigade " Luisa Capetillo ", of whom I was part, entered the Occupied Zone, but we were placed in ambush and we did not manage to release the first brigade, that also fell that same day, although in the Zone of Practice. We were stopped by the Military, and Sunday 5 we were transferred by sea and soon earth, to the Metropolitan Detention Center of Guaynabo. Monday 6 in the evening, we left on bail, and we are pending of Judgment in the Federal Court, for the crime to enter territory occupied illegally by the Navy of the U.S.A. to be imprisoned up to 6 months in gaol. I wanted to share this commentaries, so that it tells of the example of solidarity of which these brigades are part, and for me, a deep tenderness by Vieques and my sisters and brothers of the Brigades " Carlos Muniz Varela " and " Luisa Capetillo ". Greetings and peace for bieke! SKS/Skarlos/Carlos Rivera-Jones _________________________________________________ KOMINFORM P.O.
