The policemen, who were on their way to a village in Andhra Pradesh for security arrangements for local elections, were killed when the jeep carrying them was blown up by the blast around 11 a. m. local time, it said. As the extremists hiding behind a culvert set off the landmine, the vehicle was blown to smithereens, killing a sub-inspector, eight policemen and a driver on the spot, the police told the PTI.
