Subject: News from Iraq - Mariam Hamza is doing well and is featured in a
new book - Escape Routes (Please forward this message)

Mariam, poignant symbol of all Iraqi children suffering under the
cruel and criminal sanctions, is growing well and appears to be
in good health in spite of the Hell to which the Iraqi people are
subjected by the interminable sanctions and serial bombing.
Thanks to the continued support of George Galloway MP
and the Mariam Appeal she is well situated in Baghdad and
receives good food and care, essential in her fight to triumph
over the leukemia that almost killed her.

And Mariams story is now featured in a new book, Escape Routes,
by well-known author Johann Christoph Arnold who was instrumental
in arranging Mariams six-month stay in the US last year. Thanks to his
efforts, Mariam received important medical care and therapy during
that time. A friend of British MP George Galloway, Arnold has visited
Iraq several times and is an outspoken critic of the sanctions, both
in the United States and during his frequent travels abroad.

Of great interest to all who oppose the sanctions will be the tragic
and touching story of an American Gulf War Veteran who recently
returned to Iraq so that she could ask forgiveness for her part in the
devastation and death caused by the Allied Forces. Her story is also
included in Arnolds new book Escape Routes and extracts can be
found at: http://escape.plough.com/er/lonelinessExcerpt1

I am sure that many of todays anti-sanctions activists admire and
respect Che Guevara. Surely if Che were alive today he would be
in the forefront of the battle to end the imperialistic policies that
drive the continued sanctions. During his amazing life as a
revolutionary Che courageously opposed these same policies,
and was eventually murdered by the CIA. His story is also featured
in Escape Routes and excerpts can be found at:

I would highly recommend the above sites to all those engaged in
the long and wearisome battle to end the murderous sanctions. You
will find these stories an inspiration and encouragement. And from
these sites you can travel to the main website for the book,
http://escape.plough.com/ , where you will find more encouraging and
strengthening stories. Arnold has brought together many accounts
of people who remained strong in the midst of hellish situations, just
as Mariam and the people of Iraq are doing today. If you like this
website please recommend it to your friends by e-mail so that the
message of hope and encouragement contained in this book
continues to be spread worldwide. Please forward this message
as widely as possible.
