Rodong Sinmun on WPK's idea of giving importance to young people
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today dedicates an article
to the 10th anniversary of the Youth Day just at hand. The article says:
Leader Kim Jong Il sent the historical letter "Young Men and Women, Be
the Vanguard Unfailingly Loyal to the Party and the Leader" to the young
people throughout the country and the workers of the youth league on August
26, Juche 80 (1991) on the occasion of the first Youth Day. It is an
immortal work that brought about a turn in further developing the youth
movement in Korea and training young people into reliable successors on the
basis of the brilliant tradition of the Juche-oriented youth movement
established by President Kim Il Sung.
Clarifying the significance and importance of setting as Youth Day, the
historical day when Kim Il Sung formed the Young Communist League of Korea
on August 28, 1927 in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary
struggle, Kim Jong Il in the work clearly indicated tasks arising in further
developing the youth movement and ways for their fulfillment.
The vitality of the WPK's idea of giving importance to young people is
clearly proved by the fact that all the young people live and struggle as
absolute worshippers of Kim Jong Il and fighters devotedly defending the
leader.
The proud tradition of devotedly defending the leader that the young
communists upheld in the period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle
is confidently carried forward by the young people today.
The vitality of the idea also finds a vivid expression in the fact that
the young people are upholding the WPK's idea and leadership with loyalty.
The Korean young people are fully demonstrating their honour of being
young vanguard in upholding the army-first leadership of Kim Jong Il, deeply
aware through experiences that stability of the country and the prosperity
of the nation are in store for people and youth can have a rosy future only
when the revolutionary army is strong.
The young people are glorifying the high honour of being vanguard and
shock brigade in the building of a powerful socialist nation.
This is a striking manifestation of the vitality of the idea.

NDFSK spokesman on its 32nd anniversary
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the National Democratic
Front of South Korea (NDFSK) issued a statement on August 25 on the occasion
of the 32nd anniversary of its foundation, Seoul-based radio Voice of
National Salvation reported. The foundation of the revolutionary party for
reunification, the predecessor of the NDFSK, was a brilliant victory of the
Juche-based idea and theory on party building and a grand historic
declaration heralding a new start of the movement for social change which is
advancing under the banner of Juche, he said, and went on:
All the victories and achievements made by the NDFSK in the past are
entirely thanks to leader Kim Jong Il and the invincible banner of the Juche
idea fluttering ahead of the NDFSK.
The NDFSK will wage a vigorous struggle to model it on the Juche idea,
demand the withdrawal of the U.S. forces from South Korea as an urgent issue
and more powerfully wage an all-people anti-U.S. struggle to bring about a
new independent society.
It will thoroughly apply the three charters for national reunification
and the five-point policy of great national unity and wage a nationwide
struggle to bring earlier the reunification of the country and thus build a
reunified, strong and prospering country without fail.

War maneuvers in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and the South
Korean military authorities staged a chemical, biological and radioactive
exercise as part of the "Ulji Focus Lens" joint military exercises in South
Korea, according to radio no. 1 from Seoul. Involved there were the eighth
combat flying corps and fire brigade of the U.S. forces, the 23rd chemical
battalion and the 267th company of the U.S. army, the 38th combat flying
corps of the South Korean air force, the fire station and organs in Kunsan
city, North Jolla Province.
The first fleet of the South Korean navy staged a "joint exercise for
defending harbors and bays" in the East Sea of Korea involving the main
force of the navy including the high-speed ship formation of the fleet and
maritime police and organs.
Meanwhile, the second south Korean army corps command on august 22
staged a civilian-government-army joint exercise at Taegu prison under the
pretext of coping with someone's "infiltration" with more than 500 persons
of a chemical company and a mobile strike battalion of the 50th division
under the command, and those concerned of regional organs, police stations
and fire stations

Rason Telecommunications Centre opens
Rason, August 25 (KCNA) -- The Rason International Telecommunications
Centre was opened. The centre will contribute to fully meeting the
increasing needs for telecommunications in Rason area, a cargo transit
point, and further promoting the economic development among the countries of
north east Asia and their cooperation in telecommunications.
Present at the opening ceremony held on August 25 were minister of Post
and Telecommunications Ri Kum Bom, officials concerned and foreign guests
from China, Thailand and other countries.
At the ceremony speakers said that the course in which the centre was
built provided an occasion of strengthening cooperation among companies of
the DPRK, Thailand, China and other countries.
The centre has been built as a comprehensive telecommunications centre,
which not only renders international, city and other local
telecommunications service but makes other services including training, they
noted.
A reception was given on that evening on the occasion of the opening of
the centre.

U.S. chiefly responsible for nuclear threat
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun today in a signed
commentary accuses the U.S. council, on foreign relations, an institute for
the study of diplomatic policy, of recently making much fuss about the
DPRK's "access to nuclear weapons." Those with a blacked-hearted intention
are apt to pull up others, it says, and goes on: The U.S. rakes its brain to
make the DPRK's "access to nuclear weapons" a fait accompli in a bid to
justify its "proposal for the resumption of conditional negotiations" and
shift the responsibility for the deadlocked and delayed DPRK-U.S. talks on
to it.
By doing so, the U.S. seeks to divert other countries' attention to the
DPRK and avert the world's watchful eyes that focused on the U.S.
The U.S has stockpiled hundreds of tons of plutonium for producing
nuclear weapons. There are over 20,000 nuclear warheads in the U.S.
Not content with this, the U.S intends to modernize the facilities for
producing nuclear weapons and produce and deploy more nukes with a budget of
5 billion dollars spread over 10 years to come.
It is the U.S. which is threating other countries with nukes.
The U.S. is browbeating the DPRK with nuclear weapons massively deployed
in and around South Korea.
The Korean people are exposed to nuclear threat no matter where U.S.
nukes are deployed. The U.S. is technically at war with the DPRK.
That is why the DPRK is facing a constant U.S. nuclear threat.
The commentary warns: If the U.S. persistently goes in for nuclear
confrontation, the DPRK will be left with no option but to take a
countermeasure.

Greetings to Moldovan President
Pyongyang, August 26 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium
of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, on August 24 sent a message of
greetings to Moldovan President Vladimir Voronin on the occasion of the 10th
anniversary of its national day. The message extended warm congratulations

anniversary of its national day.

between the two countries would develop on good terms in the interests of
the two peoples, the message wished the president great success in his
responsible work for the territorial integrity and prosperity of the country
