Workers' Party of Belgium condemns assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa (PFLP)

Call for intensification of solidarity with the Palestine liberation
struggle
===============================================

The Workers' Party of Belgium (WPB) strongly condemns Israel's cowardly
assassination of Abu Ali Mustafa, the general secretary of the Popular Front
for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP). Since many years, the WPB has
excellent contacts with the PFLP, a Marxist-Leninist organisation and member
of the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO).

Just one month ago, a group of the WPB youth organisation was in Palestine.
They had the opportunity to meet Abu Ali Mustafa and were quite impressed by
his steadfastness and optimism for the Palestinian cause.

Over the past 11 months, the Israeli killing machine has cost the lives of
600 Palestinians, one third of them children. Israel responds as a fascist
death squad to the growing Palestinian resistance against colonisation,
occupation and repression. With the permission of her master, the United
States, Israel systematically eliminates each Palestinian leader and
activist who offers the Palestinian people some perspective in their just
struggle for the liberation of Palestine, the foundation of their own state
with Jerusalem as capital, an end to the colonisation of their land and the
return of all refugees.

Murdering Palestinian leaders and activists who oppose Israel's policies is
an act of terrorism that sharply contrasts with the Israel's democratic
pretensions.

Military attacks on targets within the territory of the Palestian Autority,
an autonomous state, are outright acts of war and serious violations of
international law. The escalation of Israel's total war against the
Palestinian people is leading to a gradual re-occupation and a further
colonisation of Palestine, and shows that Israel does not want peace.

The WPB extends her condolences to the family and comrades of Abu Ali
Mustafa, to the PFLP and to the entire Palestinian people. The WPB calls to
intensify the solidarity with the Palestinian liberation struggle.
