UNMIK, KFOR BLACKMAILING SERBS TO REGISTER FOR KOSOVO POLLS

Kosovska Mitrovica, Aug 7 (Tanjug) -- In central Kosovo and in Serbian
villages surrounded by Albanian ones, UNMIK and KFOR are
blackmailing Serbs they will discontinue their aid and protection if they
do not register for the Novemebr 17 elections, Serbian sources confirmed
to Tanjug Tuesday.

The pressures are aimed, first of all, at Serbs employed with UNMIK
and other international organizations. Direct threats have received
Serbs, employees of UNMIK in the villages of Gornja and Donja Gusterica
and of Dobrotin in central Kosovo.

In a particularly difficult position are Serbian villages surrounded
by ethnic Albanian ones, where very few Serbs have remained, without the
protection of the state, without telephone or any other communication
means. In Stimlje, where there are only about 20 elderly Serbs, UNMIK and
KFOR have conditioned their aid and elementary protection by their
obligation to register.

As a result of "democratic" pressure, all the 20 elederly people in
Stimlje have registered.
