'Bad' is certainly not the whole story of
the British Empire - while expliotation and
    repression were undoubtedly the main
themes of, for example the colonisation
of the Asian sub continent there was
one 'good' by-product in that the once
feuding warlords who were either defeated
militarily or bought off with presents managed
eventually to become the united opposition
    which threw out the colonists.

Woe betide the imperial army which seeks
    to capture India today.

    Apologetically,

    Bill.
