Subject: [Ozgurluk] Turkey/Sabanci Clique: on Amnestie For (fascists and
common) Criminals and Dungeons for Political Prisoners
Sabanci holds amnesty mentors responsible
Sakip Sabanci holds those who backed the Amnesty Law responsible for
Uzeyir Garih's murder. On the
accused Yener Yermez's capture, Sabanci said: "This guy has done it
before, been put into prison, then got
released and has done it again. Is it right to cause all of this?"
Answering questions in the Sabanci Center where the "8 Halici-Midi
Computer Music Competition" final was
being hold, Sabanci recalled that Ozdemir Sabanci had been killed in
a treacherous attack, and said he hoped
they wouldn't face such days again.
Sabanci said it was pleasing that a suspect was captured and
confessed to the murder, however, there are
different testimonies and time is needed to disclose everything.
Sabanci added:
"With a humanitarian perspective, amnesty should be in the
individuals' hearts and the people should be
forgiven. But it is a pity if this turns against society,
encouraging other murders. When you introduce amnesties
to such criminals as Ozdemir Sabanci's murderers, the outcome is
always grim. The convicted is pardoned
after a short while, which actually means an invitation for new
incidents. It is evident in Garih's murder that this
guy has done it before."
Sabanci also said that productive and successful people such as
Ozdemir Sabanci and Garih need more
security and protection. After a question on the decision to be
taken by the Belgian courts on Sept. 13 whether
Fehriye Erdal, the suspected murderer of Sabanci, would be put
before the Court for the crimes she committed
in Turkey, Sabanci said they would respect whatever the judicial
system decides on.
