Floral baskets and congratulatory letters to Kim Jong Il
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Floral baskets and congratulatory
letters were presented to leader Kim Jong Il by foreign diplomatic envoys
here on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the DPRK. They were conveyed
to officials concerned by diplomatic envoys of China, Cuba, Cambodia, Libya,
India, Vietnam, Laos, Ethiopia, Yugoslavia, Palestine, Nigeria, Indonesia,
Egypt, Romania, Iran, Poland and Syria.
��� Meanwhile, congratulatory letters to Kim Jong Il were handed to an
official concerned by acting representatives of the UNICEF and the UNDP
here.

Congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il from NDFSK
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il today received a
congratulatory message from the central committee of the National Democratic
Front of South Korea (NDFSK) on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the
DPRK. The message said that the NDFSK central committee extended the highest
glory and the warmest congratulations to Kim Jong Il on the occasion of the
53rd anniversary of the DPRK.
��� Recalling that the foundation of the DPRK signified a great victory of
President Kim Il Sung's Juche-oriented line of building power and his
outstanding leadership and a glorious birth of independent new Korea, the
message pointed out that on the basis of the precious tradition of the
Juche-oriented building of power in the crucible of the hard-fought
anti-Japanese war, the president founded the DPRK, a people-centered state,
on the liberated land, and successfully realised the nation's cherished
desire for an independent and sovereign state.
��� Noting that the proud path covered by the republic is closely associated
with the experienced and tested leadership of Kim Jong Il who has led Juche
Korea to victory, remaining true to the president's cause of nation-building
from his early age, the message said that Kim Jong Il, endowed with his
brilliant wisdom and unusual insight, enriched and embodied the president's
Juche-oriented idea and theory of nation-building, thus clearly indicating
the road for Juche-oriented socialist Korea to follow, strengthening and
developing the DPRK government to be a strong political weapon for
accomplishing the cause of Juche and augmenting the driving force of the
revolution as an impregnable bulwark, and this brought about a historic turn
in building a powerful nation.
��� Under your wise leadership Juche Korea is fully demonstrating its
invincible might before the world as an ideologically, politically and
militarily strong power unaffected by any turmoil in the world, the message
noted, and continued:

Congratulatory message to Kim Jong Il, Kim Yong Nam and Hong Song Nam
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- A congratulatory message was sent to
Kim Jong Il, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, Chairman of
the National Defence Commission of the DPRK and supreme commander of the
Korean People's Army, Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium of the DPRK
Supreme People's Assembly, and Hong Song Nam, premier of the DPRK cabinet,
by Jiang Zemin, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist
Party of China, President of the People's Republic of China and Chairman of
the Central Military Commission of the PRC, Li Peng, Chairman of the
standing committee of the National People's Congress of the PRC, and Zhu
Rongji, premier of the state council of the PRC, on September 8 on the
occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the DPRK.
��� The foundation of the DPRK 53 years ago enabled the Korean people to
become the masters of the country to embark upon the shining road of
building a new socialist state, the message said, and went on:
��� Under the leadership of General Secretary Kim Jong Il and the WPK the
Korean people are now making strenuous efforts to build Korea into a strong
socialist state in the new century in the revolutionary spirit of

��� Today the traditional Sino-DPRK friendship is growing stronger as the
days go by thanks to the joint efforts of both sides.

traditions established by the proletarian revolutionaries of the old
generation to frequent mutual visits and promote the constant development of
the bilateral relations.
��� The Chinese people greatly set store by the traditional Sino-DPRK
friendship.

and cooperative relations in the new century not only accords with the

Anniversary of DPRK's foundation observed
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Papers today dedicate editorials to
the 53rd anniversary of the DPRK. Rodong Sinmun in an editorial says that
the DPRK is the banner of the independence and prosperity of the nation and
the eternal home of the Korean people.
��� It goes on:
��� The DPRK is the Juche-oriented power which demonstrates its dignity
before the world as it holds President Kim Il Sung and leader Kim Jong Il in
high esteem.
��� The DPRK is Kim Il Sung's Korea founded and glorified by the president
and Kim Jong Il's country as it demonstrates its dignity and might under his
leadership.
��� Kim Il Sung is the founder of the DPRK and the father of socialist Korea
because he built the Juche-oriented country and the people-centered powerful
socialist state on this land.
��� The dignity and honor of the DPRK are demonstrated to the full under the
leadership of Kim Jong Il.
��� Kim Jong Il is a peerless statesman and patriot for all ages whose great
idea and policies enabled our country to emerge as an ideologically,

Rodong Sinmun on DPRK's high international prestige
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Rodong sinmun today in a signed
article deals with the DPRK's rising international prestige. The DPRK's
foreign policy based on independence and consistent with independence enjoys
recognition, sympathy and welcome by the international community for its
justice and universality, the article says, and continues:
��� Russian President Putin visited the DPRK last year for the first time as
a Russian President at the invitation of leader Kim Jong Il, and Kim Jong Il
paid an official visit to Russia, thus putting the DPRK-Russia friendly
relations on a new higher stage.
��� Kim Jong Il paid an unofficial visit to China in January this year
following his visit in may last year, and Chinese President Jiang Zemin paid
an official good-will visit to the DPRK recently, thus giving further
momentum to the DPRK-China friendly ties.
��� Thanks to the DPRK government's consistent foreign policy whose basic
idea is independence, peace and friendship, most of the member states of the
European Union and the EU recently established diplomatic relations with it.
��� In recent years, the DPRK has established diplomatic ties at
ambassadorial level with several other countries.
��� Following the publication of the DPRK-U.S. joint communique last year,
the then U.S. secretary of state visited Pyongyang to deliver the U.S.
President's personal letter to Kim Jong Il.

��� Without Kim Jong Il's wise leadership, all these achievements would have

Wreaths laid before Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong
��� Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- Senior party and state officials,
officers and men of the people's army and working people laid wreaths before
the Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery on Mt. Taesong and the Patriotic
Martyrs' Cemetery and floral baskets at the monument to victory in the
Fatherland Liberation War on September 8, one day before the 53rd
anniversary of the DPRK. Seen on the wreath-laying stands of the cemeteries
were wreaths sent by leader Kim Jong Il. A floral basket from him was seen
before the main sculpture "victory" of the monument.
��� Present were Kim Yong Nam, Hong Song Nam, Kim Il Chol and others.
��� Wreaths were laid in the name of the Workers' Party of Korea Central
Committee, the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly and the DPRK
cabinet and a floral basket was placed in the name of the C.C., the WPK and
the Central Military Commission of the WPK.
��� Then wreaths and baskets of flowers were laid in the name of the
ministry of the people's armed forces, working people's organizations,
ministries, national institutions, units of the Korean People's Army and
others.

��� pyongyang, 9 de marzo (atcc) -- quedo publicado ayer el comunicado
conjunto sobre el establecimiento de relaciones diplomaticas entre la
republica popular democratica de corea y la republica de grecia. el
comunicado conjunto senala:
��� por encargo de los gobiernos de la rpdc y la rg los representantes de
los ministerios de rr. ee. de los dos paises firmaron el 8 de marzo del 2001
en atenas un protocolo sobre el establecimiento de relaciones diplomaticas a
nivel de embajador entre ambos paises.
��� en las conversaciones ambas partes subrayaron que el establecimiento de
relaciones diplomaticas entre ambos paises se basa en la carta de la onu,
los principios del derecho internacional y los convenios de viena sobre las
relaciones diplomaticas en 1961 y las consulares en 1963.
��� ambas partes expresaron la conviccion de que el establecimiento de
relaciones diplomaticas entre la rpdc y la rg conviene a los intereses de
dos paises y contribuira al fortalecimiento de la paz y la seguridad
internacionales.
