                             PRESS RELEASE

"The Nato summit moves to Brussels, but war machine does not stop"
Gennaro Migliore, Head of PRC International Department

The move of the Nato summit to Brussels is an act of resetting
reasonability, as the summit itself is useless both in Naples and at its
headquarters in Brussels.

There has been, in fact, a useless obstination to organise the meeting
in Naples, a city which, during the last days, has been seriously
affected by a natural disaster and therefore is passing through a
difficult phase. But our satisfaction for the summit move cannot ever
compensate the concern about the probable attacks which the Nato and the
US are preparing. The decision to move the summit to Brussels, thus
depotentiating it, comes immediately after the US Secretary of Defence
Rumsfeld has announced he will not participate. This proves, once
again, the absolute Nato submission to the US. For this reason we need,
more than ever, to demonstrate against war and for peace. We will do so
in Naples on September 27th, too, despite the Nato summit has been
moved, and in Rome on September 29th and again on October 14th with the
march from Perugia to Assisi.

Communist Refoundation urges all social, political, institutional forces
and any individual to get mobilised in the movement in order to stop the
war machine and to enhance the role the Parliament and the UN should
have.

Rome, September 21st
