Kim Jong Il's work off press in Russia
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il's answers to
questions put by the Itar-Tass were brought out in booklet by the
Paleya-Mishin Publishing House of Russia on Sept. 27. Kim Jong Il's work was
published on July 24, Juche 90 (2001).
��� Elucidated in the work are the issues of the DPRK-Russia ties, the
prospect of developing them and the establishment of the U.S. Missile
Defence System and the DPRK stance toward its ties with the U.S. and Japan.

German book exhibition held
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- A German scientific and technological
book exhibition was held at the Grand People's Study House yesterday on the
occasion of its national day. On display at the exhibition hall were books
showing the successes made by Germany in the fields of science and
technology.
��� Present there were vice-chairman of the Korean Committee for Cultural
Relations with Foreign Countries Jon Yong Jin, who is also chairman of the
DPRK-Germany Friendship Association, officials concerned, working people in
the city and Claus Peter Woerner, German charge d'affaires ad interim here.
��� The participants looked round the books on display after speeches were
made.

State commendations awarded to judoists
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- State commendations were awarded to the
judoists who proved successful in the world judo championships for 2001,
coaches and their attendants. At the awarding ceremony held at the people's
house of culture yesterday the title of Labour Hero and gold medal (hammer
and sickle) and the order of the National Flag First Class were awarded to
People's Sportswoman Kye Sun Hui.
��� A wrist watch bearing the august name of President Kim Il Sung and gifts
from leader Kim Jong Il were presented to Kye Sun Hui.
��� Kye Sun Hui bagged a gold medal in the women's 52 kg category in the
World Judo Championships for 2001.
��� She had come first in the 26th Olympic Games and the 11th Asian Judo
championships.
��� A1 the ceremony the title of People's Sportsman was awarded to coach Ryu
Ju Song and the title of Merited Sportswoman to Judoist Ri Kyong Ok and
orders and medals to other judoists, coaches and their attendants.

Japan's undisguised moves for overseas aggression
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Several warships of the Japanese
maritime "Self-Defence Force" (SDF) escorted a U.S. aircraft carrier on
September 21, which proves that the Japanese reactionaries have set out on
the road of carrying out their overseas military operation for aggression.
In this regard Rodong Sinmun today in a signed commentary says: If the "SDF"
is ordered to conduct an overseas military operation, it will signify the
first undisguised action for overseas aggression in the post-war period.
��� The reality indicates that "the law on emergencies in areas surrounding
Japan" is not aimed at its "security" but it is a legislation for aggression
allowing Japan to legally participate in overseas military operation.
��� According to the law, the vast area of Asia is included in the sphere of
"SDF" operations. This indicates that almost all the countries in Asia can
be targets of Japan's military attack.
��� The Japanese militarists have frantically whetted their swords for
aggression and revenge. Betraying their true colours in the new century,
they are embarking upon carrying out their military operation for
aggression, flying Hinomaru, a symbol of militarism.
��� The Asian people are closely watching every move of Japan.

Mansudae Art Troupe
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- The Mansudae Art Troupe is a well-known
art troupe in Korea. The troupe has created and staged revolutionary operas
and music and dance pieces. The troupe produced the revolutionary opera "The
Flower Girl" in 1972 and has performed it more than 1.300 times.
��� The opera deals with the process by which its heroine Kot Bun grows to
be a revolutionary, well aware of the anti-popular nature of the exploiting
society. She embarks upon the road of revolution while selling flowers out
of sorrow and filial piety. The opera was staged in foreign countries
hundreds of times.
��� The troupe produced music and dance tale "Song of Paradise" in 1976 and
presented it more than 340 times.
��� Many music and dance pieces on diverse themes were created by it.
��� They include over 1,500 famous songs of the era such as "Song of
Comradeship" and "Soldier's Desire" and over 500 instrumental music pieces
such as "Spring at the Post ".
��� The troupe has given more than 700 performances in at least 50 countries
such as China, Cuba, Italy and Japan.
��� The troupe has the merited men's and women's choruses and women's
instrumental concert group. Over 100 Kim Il Sung Prize winners, people's
artistes and actors and actresses, merited artistes and actors and actresses
have been produced from among its members.
��� The troupe was awarded Kim Il Sung Order in Juche 61 (1972).
��� Its predecessor was the Pyongyang Art Troupe founded in Juche 35 (1946).
��� It was renamed the Mansudae Art Troupe in September Juche 58 (1969).

S. Korean Christian organizations call for press reform
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- More than 20 organizations in South
Korea including the Korean National Council of Christian churches on Sept.
27 held an inaugural meeting of the solidarity of Christians for the press
reform, according to Seoul-based MBC. At the meeting the organizations
demanded those responsible for the tax scandal at media organizations
including the Chosun Ilbo, Dong-a Ilbo and Kukmin Ilbo apologize to the
people and withdraw from management at once.
��� The organizations also urged the authorities to promptly work out a
press reform plan including the creation of an ad hoc committee for
developing the press of the "national assembly" and vowed to take the lead
in reforming the conservative clan press.

2nd-stage land realignment starts in South Hwanghae Province
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- The second-stage land leveling and
rezoning started in South Hwanghae Province. The first stage of the project
was carried out in a matter of over 120 days after it started in the run-up
to the 55th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea (October 10, 2000).
��� As a result, more than 200,000 patches and over 12,000 km of levee
disappeared and at least 50,000 hectares of land were leveled and rezoned
into standardized fields, each covering 1,0001,500 phyong.
��� This means that more than 400 hectares of land were leveled and rezoned
and over 1,660 patches and more than 100 km of levee removed on a daily
average.
��� Those involved in the project completed its first stage one month
earlier than scheduled, thus creating ample conditions for starting the
second stage.
��� Signal achievements are made by them in the drive to wind up the
second-stage project earlier than scheduled.

Foundation day of Korea marked
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- A ceremony was held at King Tangun's
mausoleum in Kangdong county, Pyongyang, today on the foundation day of
Korea. Tangun is the ancestral father of the Korean nation. He was the
founder of the first state of ancient Korea.
��� The history of the Tangun nation's state foundation had been considered
to be a myth. But it was President Kim Il Sung who, possessed of a noble
patriotic will, instructed that King Tangun's mausoleum was unearthed and
Tangun's remains and the year he died were scientifically ascertained.
��� The discovery proved in 1993 that he was born 5011 years ago and
actually existed and a state of ancient Korea was set up in the area of
Pyongyang 5,000 years ago.
��� Present at the ceremony were Kim Yong Dae, chairman of the central
committee of the Korean Social Democratic Party and president of the
national reconciliation council, Ryu Mi Yong, chairperson of the central
committee of the Korean Chondoist Chongu Party who is president of the
consultative council for the reunification of the Tangun nation, officials
of political parties, power organs, social organizations and religious
organizations in the DPRK and overseas compatriots.
��� The participants paid homage to King Tangun at a memorial service for
him.
��� Ryu Mi Yong said in her address that the commemoration of the foundation
day of Korea by the Korean people, who are descendants of Tangun, is of
great significance in accelerating the cause of independent reunification of
the country by the concerted efforts of the Korean people bolstering up the
pride and self-respect of being the homogeneous nation who has lived for
5,000 years since Korea was founded by him.
��� She was followed by other speakers.
��� A folk art performance was given by artistes in Pyongyang at the
ceremony.

Greetings to King of Lesotho
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Yong Nam, President of the Presidium

Certificate of honorary citizen, key and medal to Kim Jong Il from Ecuador
��� Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) -- Leader Kim Jong Il received a certificate
of honorary citizen, key and medal from the Morona Santiago Provincial
Council of Ecuador on the occasion of the 53rd anniversary of the DPRK. They
were conveyed to Yang Hyong Sop, vice-president of the Presidium of the DPRK
Supreme People's Assembly, by Jaime Mejia Reinoso, governor of the Morona
Santiago provincial government of Ecuador who is leading its delegation on a
visit to the DPRK.

siglo 21 la disculpa e indemnizacion del japon que en el siglo pasado
recurrio a toda clase de maquiavelismo para eludir hasta el fin la
liquidacion de sus crimenes cometidos en el pasado al acarrear indecibles
desdichas y penalidades a la humandad. el comentario senala:
��� ha transcurrido mas de medio siglo desde la derrota del imperialismo
japones. pero las autoridades japonesas no piden disculpa ni hacen
indemnizacion todavia de sus actos criminales cometidos contra el pueblo
coreano. ellas han burlado hasta la fecha al pueblo coreano con terminos
"lastima" y "reflexion" e incluso vociferan que no pueden liquidar su pasado
