The 16-year-old Loyalist suffered severe head and arm injuries and died later in hospital. The teenager killed during the rioting would have celebrated his 17th birthday on Friday, police said today. He was named as Glen Hugh Branagh, from Mountcollyer Avenue, in the Duncairn area of north Belfast. Eddie McClean, a Protestant community worker from the area, denies the youth was preparing to throw the bomb when it exploded. A 23-year-old man has been discovered in New Mossley with a gunshot wound to his leg. He has been taken to hospital. Meanwhile, two masked men both believed to be armed with shotguns forced their way into a house in Belfast while the occupants were sleeping. They made their way upstairs but were prevented from entering a bedroom after a 33-year-old man inside managed to wedge the door shut. A shotgun blast was fired through the door but nobody was injured and the intruders fled. In another attack in Londonderry, an attempt was made to force entry to a ground floor flat. The occupant woke in time to see two shotgun blasts fired into the entrance hall. Police believe three men were involved in the attack. The resident of the property escaped injury. Referring to the pipe bomb fatality, a police spokesman said: "A number of police officers saw a man move forward with what appeared to be a pipe bomb in his hand.
