The human rights group added that some 150 Palestinians and at least18 Israelis had been killed in the past two months. "In a blatant violation of the right to life, Israel continues to implement a deliberate policy of assassinating Palestinians said to have been planning attacks on Israelis," said the 98-page report entitled "Broken lives: a year of intifada." "In addition, during the past year, the Israeli authorities have cut off almost every Palestinian town and village from the outside world. "Hundreds of Palestinian houses have been demolished and Palestinians barred from travelling along certain roads in the Occupied Territories." The report also condemned "the Palestinian armed groups who have shot deliberately at residential areas and cars with Israeli number plates and set off bombs targeting civilians in shopping malls and restaurants." It added that although the international community "has made increasingly strong statements" it had "failed to take the action necessary to ensure respect for human rights standards and international humanitarian law by Israel and the Palestinians." A large proportion of those killed and injured since the intifada began in September last year have been children -- with more than 160 Palestinians and at least 32 Israelis killed. The total death toll stands at 968, including 757 Palestinians and 189 Israelis. _______________________________________________ Rad-Green mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] To change your options or unsubscribe go to: http://lists.econ.utah.edu/mailman/listinfo/rad-green
