Four children die as shell explodes in Gaza Strip
================================

Four children died in the southern Gaza Strip when a tank shell exploded.

The children were apparently all members of the same family and a fifth
child was wounded.

They on their way to the UN-run elementary school in the Khan Younis refugee
camp when the shell exploded.

Witness Abdel Halim Abu Samra says the blast was so powerful that it tore
apart the children's bodies.

"Body parts were scattered over the area, completely burned," Abu Samra
said. He said he retrieved some shrapnel from the scene, including one with
English lettering.

Abu Ola, the Palestinian security commander, says it appears the children
picked up an unexploded Israeli shell, setting off the explosion.

He initially had charged that an Israeli tank had fired a shell into the
elementary school. The Israeli military denied that troops fired in the area
on Thursday morning.

In the West Bank, meanwhile, Israeli forces raided Azzarieh, a Palestinian
suburb of Jerusalem, and shut down three offices of the Palestinian
Authority. The offices belonged to three different Palestinian security
services.

The military said the offices were shut down to "prevent terrorist
activity," but did not explain further.

In another raid, Israeli forces entered the village of Bir Zeit, just north
of the West Bank town of Ramallah, and arrested several supporters of
Islamic militant groups, Palestinian intelligence officials say.
