Several new international speakers have been confirmed for
next year�s 2nd Asia Pacific International Solidarity
Conference, March 29-April 1, 2002, Sydney, Australia . They
are:
* Aceh: Erwanto from the Acehnese People�s Democratic
Resistance Front (FPDRA)
* West Papua: Dr John Ondawame, a leader of the Free Papua
Movement (OPM) and member of the Papuan Council Presidium
* Fiji: Jimmy Naouna, Assistant Director for Decolonisation
and Indigenous Rights, Pacific Concerns Resource Centre
(the PCRC is a central organisation of the people�s
movements throughout the South Pacific and a key part of
the anti-nuclear movement in that region)
* Pakistan: Farrukh Sohail Goindi, Central Information
Secretary, Pakistan People�s Party-Shaheed Bhutto group
(this is a leftist grouping inside the PPP)
* Bangladesh: Dr Peter Custers, Director, Bangladesh
People�s Solidarity Centre
* France: Jean-Pierre Page, author, political commentator,
and long-time militant in the national leadership of the
French General Confederation of Labour (CGT) and the
Communist Party of France; Page has contributed to A
Century of Organised Labour in France (St Martin�s, 1998)
and is presently finishing a contribution to a book on
the war on Afghanistan

At that website there is also a link to the homepage of the
newly-formed A.S.A.P � Action in Solidarity with Asia and the
Pacific, which is what most ASIET committees are now making
the transition to. The ASIET website has also been updated to
notify people of the transition and link them to the A.S.A.P
page. The actual URL for A.S.A.P is
<http://www.asia-pacific-action.org>, but we are still
awaiting the
URL forwarding service to take effect (which will forward
people to the portal on the Global Revolt or ASIET sites).

Burma, Thailand, New Zealand, Cyprus, Denmark, Canada, Norway,
Germany, Sudan, Zimbabwe, Israel, Palestine, Brazil, Papua New
Guinea, Turkey, Iraq, Afghanistan and Nicaragua.
Australian participants include the Democratic Socialist
Party, Resistance, Green Left Weekly, ASIET and the
International Socialist Organisation, as well as a wide array
of activists from the anti-war, global justice, women�s, trade
union, refugee rights and other movements.
