Central regions of Afghanistan remained intact in air raids

Mashhad, Khorasan prov. Oct 9, IRNA -- Head of the Khalili Branch of
Afghanistan's Vahdat-e-Eslami (Islamic Unity) Party told IRNA here
Monday that the central regions of his country have remained totally
intact during the Sunday night and Monday air rids of the
American-British forces.

Mohammad Mohaqqeq who a few minutes ago had contacts with his party's
officials in Afghanistan also said that Azargan, Qour, Meydan,
Ghazneh and Bamian regions, all in central parts of Afghanistan, have
remained safe from the US-led retaliatory attacks against Usama
bin-Laden and the Taliban militants.

"Even the Bamian Airport, that is especially used for the landings
and take offs of large planes, and the Taliban's military planes
still use it has not been attacked yet," he expressed surprise.
Mohaqqeq said that according to the news he has received form his
war-stricken country, at least twenty civilians were martyred during
the Sunday night air raids of Kabul, and that is besides the innocent
individuals who are reported to have got killed in Jalalabad and
Qandehar, of whose number there is still no reliable report. He also
told IRNA's Mashhad bureau that the American and British
reconnaissance planes kept flying over Kabul, Qandehar, Jalalbad and
Mazar-i-Sharif throughout Monday.

According to this Afghan party official, the Taliban militants have
totally and severely halted the pedestrians and vehicles traffic in
the missile or bomb stricken areas.

He said that the Taliban forces have been dynamically changing
positions and transferring their forces ever since the beginning of
the air raids and even a couple of days before they started.

"The inhabitants of the northern mountainous regions that have never
been ruled by the Taliban have not immigrated from their hometowns
though, and the North Coalition forces are ready to launch their
heaviest military operation against the Taliban militants," concluded
Mohaqqeq. NA/JB
