Glenn Visit by NATO Briefing Team to UIC The UIC Department of Political Science and Office of International Services Welcome NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) to UIC Wednesday October 17 1:00 to 3:00 PM in the Cardinal Room (3rd Floor) in the Chicago Circle Center (750 S. Halsted) A briefing team composed of two senior military officers from the NATO headquarters of Allied Command Atlantic and Allied Command Europe will discuss the history and general organization of NATO and changes in todays security environment with emphasis on NATOs relevance and response. Such topics include: - NATOs response to the recent terrorist events in the US - Article 5 - NATOs new strategy for managing peace and dealing with crises - The Bosnia mission and the future of the Stabilization Force - Current events in Kosovo - NATOs working relationship with Russia and the Ukraine - NATO in the 21st century - The costs and benefits of NATO enlargement A Q&A period will follow the presentation where the briefing team will be happy to answer any questions you may have.
