Press Statement The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement: Condemn Israeli Aggression The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) denounces the Israeli military attack on the headquarters of Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian Authority in Gaza. Israeli helicopter gunships have destroyed helicopters and buildings located in the complex. Israel's justification for this attack as a retaliation for the suicide bombings is baseless and provocative. Terrorist acts by certain individuals or groups cannot be used as the basis for attacking a government or a Head of State. Israel continues to brazenly launch military attacks on the Palestinian people and assassinate their leaders. The Vajpayee government which is covertly establishing close ties with Israel must not keep quiet. It must strongly condemn the Israeli action and demand a halt to all such attacks. enc
