The shooting took place at the Hyatt Hotel, which is close to Palestinian neighborhoods in east Jerusalem. Mr Zeevi was taken to Hadassa Hospital where he is suffering from head wounds, and his condition is described as serious, says Professor Shmuel Shapira, deputy director of the hospital. He is among seven ultra-nationalists who pulled out of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's coalition government. The motive for the shooting is not clear, police say. Police spokesman Shmuel Ben-Ruby claims three shots were fired at the minister, who was at the entrance of his room in the hotel.
