Subject: [CubaNews] Solidarity with Venezuela

Dear friends,

Some time ago, CBI distributed a call by international solidarity groups
in Argentina to send out a message of solidarity to President Hugo Chavez
confronting a national, counterrevolutionary lock out in Caracas, in
protest of the implementation of 49 progressive laws, including an
agrarian reform.

Please note below the messages sent to President Hugo Chavez from around
the world by students, workers, scientists teachers and artists. They
include messages from the US from Jane Franklin and Richard Hepburn (CBI
email list). Thanks to Jane and Richard for responding to this very
important call! It shows that we are advancing towards the goal of an
interactive electronic network, not just an a dispenser of commentary and
news.

As an American I fully support the Chavez effort to find another path,
toward justice and an equitable distribution of the world's resources. We
need to see that change is possible and join our struggle with yours.
Hasta siempre!

Thank you,
President Chavez and the peaceful and democratic BOLIVARIAN REVOLUTION.
The Venezuelan people and the government they have elected are an
inspiration for peace and justice loving people around the world. Many
people in our community are in solidarity with you. We love and respect
your humanity. In Peace,
Michael W. Stowell

As an author and historian, I view Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez as a
champion of the most vital human rights to health, education and
employment. Here in the United States, he is called a "maverick" because
he does not blindly accept the dictates of the U.S. government. It is
tragic that President Chavez's efforts to empower the poor are considered
the efforts of a maverick. For humanity's sake, we need more such
mavericks quickly. I especially value his regard for President Fidel
Castro and the Cuban people for I have noticed that those who treasure
Cuba are generally those who are trying to achieve a world of peace with
justice--that is, peace with equality for all human beings around the
globe. Such a goal will be difficult to achieve and that makes it all the
more important that all of us do our best to make it possible. President
Chavez is doing his best. I appreciate Emancipation Project's campaign to
support President Chavez in his difficult but heartening work toward
achieving a just society.

A message from the Nortamericanos de Movimiento Bolivariano to all
Bolivarians Worldwide, and to our good friends in the Argentina
Movimiento Bolivariano, who wrote us:
We support you!
We love you!
Viva del Che!
Nuestra Plan es La Vida!
No al Plan Colombia!
Let us all spread the word, let us send eachother's bulletins far and
wide!
We Nortamericanos will forge a solidarity and good communication between
all groups, companeros, and camaradas that fight for the poor, in all
places and all countries. Bolivar frees all men and all women from
Neoliberalism, Imperialism, Fascism, Racism, and Economic Oppression.
Bolivar gives homes to the homeless, land to the landless.
Argentina, Colombia, and all of Latin America, and also Norte America,
Bolivar is back, and the Land will be ours! All groups that fight for
social justice unite, all are welcome, from the Internationale, from the
World!
Norteamericanos de Movimiento Bolivariano

Any revolution which democratically benefits the majority of the people
has my support! Especially if it is striving to be non-violent. La lucha
continua.
