Kim Jong Il inspects KPA unit
��� Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) - General Secretary Kim Jong Il Saturday
inspected KPA unit no. 2833. He was greeted by the commanding officers of
the unit on the spot.
��� He acquainted himself with the performance of the unit's duty before
seeing soldiers of the unit in training.
��� The soldiers strikingly demonstrated their combat capability as
fighters, each being a match for a hundred foes, by fully displaying the
high combat technique they have cultivated through their day-teatly
satisfied to see all the soldiers trained to be brave fighters. he set forth
important tasks which would serve as a guideline in further increasing the
unit's combat capability.
��� He took warm care of the living of the servicemen, looking round an
education room, bedroom, mess, a daily provision store and other places of
the unit.
��� He gave the servicemen of the unit a pair of binoculars and an automatic
rifle as gifts, and posed for a photograph with them.
��� At the end of his inspection of the unit he appreciated a performance
given by the art propaganda squad of the KPA unit no. 529 together with
servicemen.
��� He expressed great satisfaction with the successful performance
truthfully representing the life of the servicemen given by its artistes.
��� He gave high appreciation and thanks to them for inspiring the soldiers
to new struggles and exploits through revolutionary and militant art
activities among them.
��� He was accompanied by Kim Yong Chun, chief of the general staff of the
KPA, Kim Il Chol, minister of the People's Armed Forces, Yon Hyong Muk,
member of the NDC of the dprk and ri yong chol, first vice department
director of the central committee of the wpk.

Reception given by Ministry of People's Armed Forces
��� Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of the People's Armed
Forces hosted a reception yesterday on the occasion of the 10th anniversary
of leader Kim Jong Il's election as supreme commander of the Korean People's
Army. Present on invitation were military attaches of various embassies
here.
��� At the reception Jong Chang Ryol, vice-minister of the People's Armed
Forces, said that his election as supreme commander of the revolutionary
armed forces 10 years before in reflection of the will and desire of all
officers and men of the people's army marked an auspicious event of the
nation who are blessed with the supreme commander generation after
generation and a historic event of great significance in carrying out the
cause of Juche-based army building and in the development of the Korean
revolution.
��� His election as supreme commander of revolutionary armed forces was a
great fortune for the country and people in terms of their destiny and the
army and the revolution in the light of their future development, and this
was fully proved in the 90s of the last century, the severest trial for the
Korean revolution, he noted, and went on:
��� The revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK will as ever firmly defend
the revolutionary cause of Juche with arms under the uplifted banner of
ever-victorious army-centred policy set forth by him.
��� Yan Jiangfeng, military attache of the Chinese embassy here who is doyen
of the military attaches corps, referred to Kim Jong Il's election as
supreme commander of the KPA a decade ago, saying:
��� The Korean people single-heartedly rallied around him, achieved a great
victory in the "arduous march" by overcoming difficulties in the spirit of
fortitude.
��� He has made great achievements in foreign relations by pursuing the
independent diplomatic policy.
��� He has greatly contributed to peace on the Korean peninsula and the
cause of national reunification by invariably following the reunification
policy shaped by President Kim Il Sung. Yan expressed the belief that a rosy
future is in store for the DPRK under his leadership.

Japanese authorities' suppression of Chongryon under fire
��� Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- A political party and organization in
Russia and Guinean figures condemned the political suppression of the
General Association of Korean Residents in Japan (Chongryon). The maritime
territorial committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and
the maritime territorial branch of the People's Patriotic Union of Russia
noted in a letter of protest sent to the Japanese consulate general in
Vladivostok on Dec. 14 that Chongryon is a legitimate organization
recognized by the world community. The search and arrest committed by the
Japanese authorities can never be justified and should invite deserved
condemnation from the world public as it was a political suppression
intended to destroy Chongryon, the letter said.
��� It strongly demanded the Japanese authorities immediately stop their
political suppression of Chongryon, release all the arrested people and
apologize for it.
��� Chairman of the Guinean Committee for Supporting Korea's Reunification
Mamadou Ali Sampil and secretary general of the national confederation of
Guinean workers Labiatou Sera Diallo in their statements issued on Dec. 10
branded the Japanese authorities' fascist suppression of Chongryon as an
anachronistic act and a flagrant infringement upon the dignity and
sovereignty of the DPRK and strongly demanded an immediate halt to such act.

Film show held
��� Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The Ministry of the People's Armed
Forces held a film show yesterday on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of
leader Kim Jong Il's election as supreme commander of the Korean People's
Army. Present there on invitation were military attaches of different
embassies here and generals and officers of the KPA.
��� Its participants saw the Korean documentary film "the 65th anniversary
of the foundation of the heroic Korean People's Army" on significant
celebrations of the Army Day.

Anti-U.S. struggle called for in S. Korea
��� Pyongyang, December 23 (KCNA) -- The Seoul District Federation of
General Student Councils (Sochongryon) reportedly issued an appeal on Dec.
17 calling for a vigorous anti-u.s. struggle. Accusing the U.S. of pushing
the situation on the Korean peninsula to the brink of war, going against the
Korean nation's desire for reunification, the appeal expressed irrepressible
indignation at the flunkeyist acts of the anti-reunification forces
including Ri Hoe Chang hell-bent on all sorts of anti-DPRK campaigns in
league with the U.S.
��� The U.S. fails to understand the strength of the joint declaration and
see the driving force of the nation who has grown stronger than ever before
and students of the South Korean Federation of University Student Councils
and Sochongryon standing in its van, the appeal said.
��� It called on the youth to pool zeal and wisdom in the march for
independent reunification and humble the arrogance of the U.S. imperialists
and demonstrate the national dignity to the world.

��� pyongyang, 22 de diciembre (atcc) -- los establecimientos deportivos y
de servicio publico se construyen en el reparto chongchun de la region de
mangyongdae de corea. el reparto chongchun se llama villa deportiva donde
funcionan los centros de mas de 10 disciplinas.
��� el campo de tiro al arco se construye en un lugar a 400 m del espacio
entre el centro de baloncesto y el centro de levantamiento de pesas.
��� el campo ( 138 x 105m ) se extiende del este al oeste con mas de 20
blancos y se colocan las graderias a sus ambos lados y detras se ponen el
centro de entrenamiento de tiro al arco bajo el techo, sala de entrenamiento
fisico, sala de descanso de jugadores, bano de vapor y otros.
��� el albergue de maratonistas en construccion es de 1 200 metros cuadrados
de area arquitectonica donde se acondicionaran excelentes condiciones de
comida y sueno para que ellos se repongan de fatiga.
��� se construye el instituto de equipos y materiales deportivos que se
ocupara de investigar y desarrollar los nuevos accesorios de todos generos
para el juego y el entrenamiento.
��� en el instituto de medicina deportiva se edifican las habitaciones de
hospitalizacion y la fabrica de procesamiento de carne y refresco donde se
efectuaran varias actividades de servicio y se elaboraran los productos para
asegurar la salud y la capacidad fisica de los jugadores.
