Ansar Burney Trust further expands it's search of Saudi, Pakistani and other foreigners missing in Afghanistan:
KABUL: International Human and Civil Rights Organisation "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International" has further expand its work for the search of foreigners missing in Afghanistan. In this regard, the Trust has requested the unfortunate families of these missing foreign nationals, including Pakistanis and Saudi Arabians, to contact the Trust in Karachi and provide details on their missing loved ones. Renowned human rights activist and Chairman of the Trust, Ansar Burney, Advocate said most of these foreign nationals including Saudi Arabian and Pakistanis, went to Afghanistan for Business, Humanitarian work or in some cases to fight for the Talibans. Now, most of these people are missing, killed, arrested or recently kidnapped by the Indian Government from Afghanistan. In most cases the families of these people do not know what has happened to them, Mr Burney added. He requested the families of such unfortunate prisoners to contact "Ansar Burney Welfare Trust International" at 6 Hassan Manzil, Arambagh Road, Karachi, Pakistan. Phone 0092 21 2623382, 2623383 Fax 2623384. website: http://www.ansarburney.org He said I am very much in contact with the United Nations and other International organisations in this regard. "We have so far been successful in getting the release of dozens of such prisoners from Afghanistan and sent them back to their respective Countries. In this regard I am specially thankful to Mr Onder Yucer and Mr Mike Sackett of the United Nations Representatives for Pakistan and Afghanistan respectively" Ansar Burney said. He said, recently the Indian government has kidnapped 110 Pakistani and Saudis detained prisoners from Kabul and shifted them to an Indian Armed forces camp, where they are severely tortured to get statements against Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and for other reasons. The families of these people do not even know that their relatives are alive because they became missing when taken by India. He said on December 05, India sent an Aeroplane to Afghanistan's Bagram Air Base, some kilometres north of Capital Kabul, to pick up these unfortunate prisoners, who had been detained by the Northern Alliance. "This airlift took place on when the international conference on the future political structure of Afghanistan was being held in Bonn, Germany. While the world's attention was focused on the German conference, this clandestine move was made by the Indian Air Force with the active co-operation and participation of the Northern Alliance commanders", Ansar Burney said. "This somewhat shows how hard it can be for families to find their loved ones in Afghanistan. Incidents like this make it very hard to keep track of people" Ansar Burney said. "Because of the difficulties families are facing in finding loved ones, we at the Trust, which has over 20 years of experience in finding missing children & persons and has a large number of volunteers, has decided to use this experience and our willing volunteers, to help these unfortunate families" Ansar Burney stated. Families are requested to contact the Trust with as much information as possible on the loved one missing in Afghanistan.
