AFP. 3 January 2002. Maoists bomb home of Nepal's health minister.

KATHMANDU -- The home of Nepal's health minister was badly damaged when
it was bombed by Maoist rebels, police said Thursday.

"Nepal's Maoist terrorists bombed the residence of Health Minister
Sharad Singh Bhadari by using a ... bomb which badly damaged the house,"
a police spokesman said.

Bhadari was not at the house, in the Mahottari district, 180 kilometres
(112 miles) south of Kathmandu, at the time and no one was injured.

Following the explosion, security personnel rushed to the scene and
apprehended six Maoist suspects, police sources said.

Meanwhile, security personnel Wednesday detained eleven Maoist suspects
and handed them over to local authorities in the Sindhulipalchok
district, 198 kilometres (123 miles) east of Kathmandu.
