Moving into our sixth year of publication, our related web site anti-
fascism.org received over 110,000 hits since Kystallnacht 2000. We've also
archived 3,747 files totalling over 43 Mb of data at both the web and ftp
sites.
Over the last year we've come under attack from fascists, largely
supportinve of William Pierce's National Allliance, that has been both
personal and intense. The tactics developed to deal with fascist agitation
on the net, particularly the usenet news groups, certainly drew blood.
That's why we're increasing our efforts to deal with the violence-oriented
hatred that marks today's fascism in the same way that it marked
yesterday's.
Every week we will now publish a special mini-essay "Contra-Pierce" that
examines the terror-fuhrer's latest radio broadcast.
We will also publish an additional five special issues in response to the
temporary delay produced by the neo-Nazi attack on us at RoadRunner.

Today [skinheads] Joe Erling Jahr got 21 years and Ole Nicolai Kvisler got
19 years and four months for the murder of Benjamin Hermansen last
february. Braindead Veronica Andreassen got away with 2 years and six
months.
21 years is the most severe sentence you can get in Norway.

Wednesday, december 19th : 2 guys are arrested in the area of the � banca
di Bologna � and are accused of planning a robbery. They are arrested while
driving 2 bikes and allegedly had latex gloves, knives and tights on them.
Their names are Carlo Tesseri and Horst Fantazzini.
A few hours later, the cops searched their houses and confiscated books,
magazines, flyers, stickers as well as a computer, agendas, mail and money.
After 32 years of prison, Horst had since a few months been in partial
release (until 2019) and Carlo had been freed in july after 7 years of
prison. The same day the public prosecutor from Bologna confirmed their
arrest. The two used their right to refuse to declare anything.
December 24th : Horst is found dead in the prison of Dozza. The official
explanation is that he died of a heartattack while under his shower. But
then what the fuck is the reason for this heartattack ? Who stopped his
heart ? His children noticed he had several bruises on his body. The only
thing we are sure of is that this is another state murder that striked an
anarchist who intended to live free, to struggle against any kind of
authority and against the prisons in which he spent half of his life. The
death of Horst in prison has been planned for long. His sentence was
supposed to end in 2019. He already has been seriously wounded by prison
guards when he tried to escape earlier. On dec. 24th our comrade died while
in their hands, locked in the cage of the state. We consider as particulary
responsible for this death the public prosecutors from Bologna, Orso and
Pescatore, but also the Dozza prison director and the whole staff working
within its walls.
Murderers, we are not gonna forget you !
Our thought go to Carlo, also locked in this same prison, old friend and
comrade of Horst, to whom the visit from family members was denied. His
girlfriend asked for a visit of urgency, and was denied this right. One
director said that Horst�s death was not important enough to let her visit
Carlo. Let�s stay in solidarity with Carlo in this difficult period, let�s
remind him that he is not alone.

05) Japanese Public Opinion Favors Settling World War II Claims

In a study completed earlier this month by University of Cincinnati.
Political Science graduate student, James R. Masterson, a review of
Japanese public opinion poll data reveals that Japanese citizens
overwhelmingly support compensation of W.W.II era victims of Japanese war
crimes. Only 15% were opposed.
Masterson who translated Japanese public opinion poll data concluded that
the Japanese government should take into consideration the sympathy of its
populace with war crimes victims which stands in stark contrast to the
government�s unwillingness to address the issue more than fifty years after

This comes as no surprise to the team of international lawyers headed by
Jonathan Levy and Tom Easton who are handling war claims on behalf of Mili
Atoll in the Marshall Islands. "All we are asking for is a fair
settlement," stated Levy, "the Japanese government has tried every trick in
the book to prevent an examination of the issues."
According to Levy, "The 1969 US-Japanese Treaty purportedly settling all
war claims in Micronesia for a mere $10 million dollars was a sham done
without the participation of the Micronesian peoples or the United Nations
under whose authority the US held a Trusteeship."
The current value of war claims in Micronesia is unknown but damages to
Mili Atoll alone, site of some of the fiercest fighting during W.W.II, was
estimated at $10 million in 1969.

NEWS ON FASCIST/HATE CRIMES
06) A Close Shave

Earlier this month, in advance of Tom Metzger's return visit to Portland,
local anti-racist activists publicly warned of the potential for
white-power-related violence. They had no idea how close the city had
already come to just such a clash.
On Dec. 14, a Multnomah County grand jury returned indictments against at
least five skinheads, two of them women, in connection with the beating of
Lindsay Ulrich, 18. The charges, which range from first-degree assault to
second-degree kidnapping (both Measure 11 crimes), stem from an incident in
early November, one of the few outward signs that Portland skinheads may be
ready to go to war.
Details of the incident remain sketchy, but, based upon police records and
interviews of law-enforcement sources, a young woman was severely beaten by
racist skinheads when she failed to carry out a Nov. 1 assault outside the
Beulahland club in Northeast Portland. Police believe Ulrich was pressured
to take part in an attack on an anti-racist skinhead at the behest of
several local skinheads.
Sources say that Ulrich suffered a severe head injury two years ago and
that, ever since, it's been very easy for people to influence her
decisions. Late this summer, she moved into her own apartment in Clackamas.
She fell in with a group of skinheads, according to sources familiar with
the case. One of those who lived at her apartment was Gary Carson Brown,
32, a longtime local skinhead who's spent time in prison for making death
threats.
Somehow, Ulrich became convinced she was a skinhead lady and adopted the
boots-and-jacket regalia of bonehead pride. On Nov. 1, she was driven to
Beulahland, a well-known hangout for local anti-racists skinheads. In
effect, the racists were asking her to go to war for them with the
anti-racists.
But Ulrich reportedly backed down, though several skinheads did go inside
and tangle with clubgoers. Afterward, Ulrich was taken to a Southeast
Portland apartment, beaten and stripped of all her skinhead insignia. She
was then taken to her Clackamas apartment building, where she was held
against her will. Four days later, on Nov. 5, Ulrich slipped out of the
apartment and called police. Clackamas County deputies responded and found
Ulrich so badly beaten that they couldn't discern her jawline.
The beating allegedly took place at the hands of Sheila McKenzie, 25, of
Portland, and Pamela Bailey, who resides in the Los Angeles area. Both now
stand accused of first-degree assault. Two other men, Dimitri Tash of the
Los Angeles area and James Torkelson of Portland, were also indicted, but
the office of the Multnomah County district attorney would not comment on
the men's charges. Brown was slapped with 13 counts, including second-
degree kidnapping and second-degree assault. He's currently at the downtown
Justice Center jail.
Ever since the re-emergence of Volksfront, the secretive group that brought
white-power warrior Tom Metzger to town for an invitation-only gathering,
earlier this year, local anti-racist groups such as Oregon Spotlight have
been convinced that racist skinheads were ready to take Portland back to
the bad old days of the late-1980s, when the two sides often clashed--and
some see the Ulrich beating as a warning sign.
In addition, Brown's alleged involvement provides a link to Volksfront. As
the Dec. 8 Metzger event ended, Portland Police arrested Brown in
connection with the Ulrich case.

07) Vandals damage Islamic center, Koran

COLUMBUS -- Vandals broke water pipes and flooded the Islamic Center of
Columbus and left several copies of the Koran shredded or thrown in the
parking lot.
"I think this is part of the hate crimes that we have received right after
the September 11 attacks," said Mohammed Shareef, president of the Islamic
Foundation of Central Ohio and a center member. "Things have been cooled
down, but it looks like there's some new revival."
Police have no suspects and have made no arrests, said spokesman Sgt. Earl
Smith.
Members of the three-story center, which serves as a mosque and has
classrooms, discovered the damage when they came for prayer services about
7 a.m. Sunday, said Siraj Haji, one of the first to arrive.
The vandals went to a third floor bathroom and pulled the water pipes from
the sink and walls, said Ahmad Al-Akhras, president of the Council on
American Islamic Relations in Columbus.
Holes were drilled into the floor on the top story so water flowed to the
lower levels, Haji said. The basement had 2 inches of water.
"When you first walked in, it was if it was raining," Haji said. "Water had
soaked into floors and the ceilings. ... Basically, it was unsafe to enter
the building."
In addition to the water damage, several copies of the Koran, the Islamic
holy book, were shredded or thrown into the parking lot, and light fixtures
were pulled from the ceiling, Haji said.
Several Ohio mosques have been targets of attacks since the September 11
terrorist attacks.
At least one window was damaged by gunfire at the Islamic Center of Toledo,
while a mosque in Parma, near Cleveland, has reported damage to windows.
On December 12, Eric M. Richley, a suburban Cleveland man, pleaded guilty
to felony charges of burglary, ethnic intimidation and vandalism for
ramming his car into the Islamic Center of Cleveland six days after the
terrorist attacks. Richley, 29, is to be sentenced January 9.

08) Neo-Nazi fugitive arrested in southern Greece

ATHENS -- An Austrian, neo-Nazi escaped convict who had been on the run for
three years was arrested in southern Greece, authorities said Thursday.
Police said 67-year-old Karl Polacek, was arrested on an international
warrant Tuesday in a house near the town of Pyrgos, 319 kilometers (200
miles) southwest of Athens. Polacek, of Vienna, Austria, allegedly headed a
branch of a German neo-Nazi group, the Liberal Workers Party, or FAP, in
the state of Lower Saxony.
An Austrian court sentenced him to two years in prison in 1998 for
propagating Nazi ideas, but he escaped before entering jail.
In 1992, Polacek was expelled from Germany after several convictions
related to his right-wing activities. He also had been convicted in Germany
for attacking a German woman with a hatchet after she spat into his car.

09) Separationists Call For End To 'Love of God' Code In Hawaii Public
School

The Hawaii Citizens for the Separation of State and Church (HCSSC) is
protesting a public school honor code that requires students to
express "love for God and all Mankind."
The group received a complaint last week from an unidentified teacher who
has been at the school for nearly a decade. According to HCSSC
director Mitch Kahle, the code has existed for about five
years, and is posted conspicuously in classrooms, hallways, the
student handbook and the web site of McKinley High School.
"The problem is that it is in essence religious," said Mr. Kahle. "It is a
statement of religious belief. Nothing like that has a place in the public
schools."
Kahle contacted Milton Shishido, principal of the school and state
Education Superintendent Pat Hamamoto last week, asking that the
code be altered to reflect a religion-neutral position.
The code reads:
"As a student of McKinley, I stand
For Honesty
In all I do and say;
For Industry
In study, work and play;
For Purity
In spirit, thought and deed;
For Courage
To meet life's every need;
For Brotherhood
Of races all combined;
And love
For God and all Mankind"
"By including the phrase 'Love for God' in its Code of Honor, McKinley High
School implies that all students 'believe in' and 'Love'
something called 'God,' " said Kahle. "This statement represents a
purely monotheistic religious ideology and serves no secular purpose
whatsoever." Kahle added that key legal decisions on the role of
religion in the public schools (ABINGTON v. SCHEMPP, STONE v.
GRAHAM, SANTA FE v. DOE) all support the notion "that students in
public schools must remain free from any school-sanctioned religious
activity or exercise."
"By including 'Love for God,' Kahle wrote, "the Code of Honor fails
all three prongs of the Lemon Test and thus violates the First
Amendment of the Constitution. The phrase also violates HAR (Hawaii
Annotated statutes) Chapter 41, because it discriminates against
students who are atheists, agnostics, secular humanists, polytheists (e.g.,
Hindus), pantheists (e.g., Shintos), and of other
non-monotheistic faiths (e.g., Buddhists)."
According to the Hawaii Star-Bulletin newspaper, there has been no
response so far from either Principal Shisido or Superintendent
Hamamoto. Kahle told the paper that if the school refuses to comply with
the HCSSSC request, he would take legal action. He warned
officials: "HCSSC hereby demands the immediate removal of the current Code
of Honor from all public property and materials at McKinley High School.
All posters, plaques, signs, and the like must be removed.
The Code of Honor must be removed from the student handbooks and from any
and all other school publications. The Code of Honor must be
removed from the school website and all other school property. The
Code of Honor must never again be uttered verbally or otherwise
communicated by any means by any teachers, administrator, or employee of
the Department of Education."

10) William Pierce: The Greatest Delusion
In his essay "The Greatest Betrayal"* Bill Pierce, fuhrer of the National
Alliance, tells how that he doesn't like Attorney General John Ashcroft.
That is neither new nor unusual. Before Ashcroft became the Bush
Government's top cop he was fired by the voters in his home state.
"Ashcroft's main regret is that he did not live in the Soviet Union 75
years ago, where he could have converted to Judaism, become commissar for
the Cheka, and organized mass shootings of dissidents in the cellars of the
secret police.
"I don't know what sort of sexual abuse Ashcroft was subjected to as a
child that made him what he is ...." stated Pierce.
Nor is it especially unusual for neo-Nazis like Pierce to have communists
on that part of their brain not otherwise devoted to the Jews.
But Pierce manages to sexualize Ashcroft's politics. More accurately,
Pierce shows his intense sexual delusions in the matter.
Elsewhere on the net Pierce's political supporters like Scot Bradbury also
share Pierce's imaginations about pedophilia.
An intense interest in the sexual molestation of children isn't a
prerequisite for membership in the National Alliance nor of support for
Pierce's politics.
But the fascist fantasies about children and sexuality increasingly mark
these forces.
Naturally, the people who demonstrate their interest in child molestation
routinely attribute it to "the otherguy."
That doesn't make them less dangerous to the traditional victims of fascism
and it certainly doesn't make them less dangerous to children.
Remember that Pierce does not come from the unimportant and uneducated
lunatic wing of U.S. politics; he comes from the important and educated
lunatic wing.
