KOL. 19 January 2002. Yet another journo arrested.

KATHMANDU -- Joint team of army and policemen on Saturday morning have
arrested a Kathmandu based journalist with Space Time Nepali Daily,
Anuradha Poudel, from her residence.

The arrest comes amid much protest within the media community upon the
government by calling it "harassment" by arresting one after another.

According to Poudel's colleagues, the security forces also took away
leftist literature materials, including books on Marx and Lenin.

They also took away two binoculars of her husband who is a bird-watcher.

In a press statement, the Space Time Branch of Federation of Nepalese
Journalists have condemned the arrest of journalist Poudel and demanded
her immediate release.

Since the declaration of emergency on November, last year, the
government has arrested more than three dozens journalists throughout
the country.
