used and that's it. Having an inconsistent GUI would be much worse than 
having to specify a title which isn't used.

Yes, exactly.  That's IMHO anyway what Kopete is missing the most:
consistence in its GUI. (for instance changing autoconnection)
Thus I'd prefer changing Kopete status and not only ICQ status.
