I like the patch a lot, I don't even consideer it a feature. I think it fixes the usablity of the window. Some days ago the chat window looked like OpenOffice with the sidebar and everything, now it looks more clean, and with your patch, it uses hints to start in the "best" way for the 90% of the cases. Also the code is pretty small for such a feature. And what makes me feel good with the patch is that you didn't touch every protocol/ subdirectory to fix this!
