About the P.S. this can be adium problem, are you both behind NAT?
Kopete first tries to connect directly and then if it fails it tries to use
file transfer through ICQ server. And for instance the official ICQ 6 client
only tries the direct connection.
So if you are both behind NAT then you can send from Kopete to ICQ 6 (through
ICQ server) but not from ICQ 6 to any other client behind NAT.
