While I understand the use case scenario, I really don't like to start adding 
options to the context menu.

Another option would be to mimic the behavior you can find in Adium: when you 
use the search bar, it shows results for all contacts, even the offline ones. 
This would make it easier to find your contacts, and you wouldn't need to have 
a context menu option to configure this.
