Also, still a few states that don't take your SSN(or use it as an identifier) when you get a DL, NY being one of them.KS let you use your SSN, then required, and then let you, and then no new licenses use it. So it has come full circle. There is actually conflicting federal law regarding the use of SSN for this purpose. I can't remember which courts, but different courts in different circuits have ruled differently based on these laws. I suspect it will go to the supreme court some time in the future to determine if SSN will become our universal ID.
