Hmm ... wouldn't want it that way here, but they are a sovereign nation
with representative government. Arguably that's a valid way to support
the BBC (I'm assuming that's what you mean).

Similarly we have a (quaint, outmoded) surcharge on blank audio tapes
designed to offset the "loss" suffered by artists when audio albums are
taped. I don't believe that there is any similar tax on CD or DVD
blanks.
