Hm. Right in the first screen of my manpage, I read:
In other words, "a" means "all", "+" means "add", and "x" means
"execute". That is, make the script runnable.
Thanks again, Stewart. (Half of my man pages come up in spanish (I'm trying to push myself to learn it more.) and skimming for the info combined with my lack of fluency caused me to miss it. I went and looked. 'Twas right where you said, though I think the wording has been changed between mine (Nov 98) and yours.)

I still tend to prefer the octal, but probably only because I haven't had much need yet to play with the other.
