The other Engineers in my group have opted to go with Macs for their laptops because they can do BSD (another Unix like OS) things and still use IE, and Office (still no Visio though).
I would just like to point out to everybody here that, for all intents and purposes, IE on Mac OS X is a diseased bastard child that Microsoft would really like to shoot in the head. They shot its knees out when they discontinued all Mac OS X development of IE on the release of Safari, out of spite that Apple _dare_ to develop its own platform software.
And I've been rather annoyed at the complete lack of an OS X version of Visio. It's actually damned useful (especially the Enterprise version, due to nifty things like network discovery and mapping.)
