Although I also carry a spear for vi, I *like* having emacs around; I
think it is a wonderful non-unixy editor ideally suited for the people
who like that sort of editor.

Figure it out once, and turn it off in the appropriate rc file. . .

Unless you're trying to drill it into your brain.  I am that way with
passwords -- I need to log in daily for a couple of weeks, otherwise
I forget 'em.
