Hi guys, we are starting to use Linux a lot at work (Northrop
Grumman). I have been ask to find the most powerfull laptop that
will run linux (RH E3.X). Can you guys give me some suggestions?

Most powerful laptop is going to be one of the latest Pentium M-based products, and by latest I mean the ~2.1GHz Pentium M 760. Yes, there are laptops that run pure Pentium 4's and Athlons at higher clockrates, but if you look around at the benchmarks you'll find that the Pentium M's architecture is hugely efficient and gives the highest end P4's a good run for their money.

Plus with the Pentium M + Centrino setup, you get reasonable heat and battery life whereas a notebook like one of the Alienware P4 machines (which are really just Sager brand notebooks underneath) runs hot and chews through batteries.

IBM T43 series has what you're looking for, as does the HP Compaq Business Notebook 6000-series, such as the nc6230. Also note that HP can equip some of their laptops with FreeDOS as the installed OS, thus saving you the Windows tax on laptops which will eventually be running Linux.
