I've yet to see much of this so-called "rude" behavior. I see more of it on the SVN side, possibly because I didn't switch camps immediately. Mostly I see people come into #cvs and answer newbies questions with "CVS sucks. You should use SVN." And when I first ventured into #svn with my dependency issues, I was told to basically suck it up. Plus, the SVN documentation was rather patronizing.
