First, thanks for changing the subject line. :-) Next, I've never had a problem with Subversion, at least when compiling it from the source distribution: http://subversion.tigris.org/tarballs/subversion-1.1.3.tar.gz In the directory, a simple ./configure && ./make followed by ./make install has always worked for me.
