Thanks, Dave. If nothing else, I now know about dvdbackup to use for my
PERFECTLY LEGAL back up activities which haven't commenced and may
never, so if you're from the Justice Department, don't raid my home,
please.

As an update, VideoLAN actually had a dependency go-round for me. I
suspect that lots of the video/audio libraries are on the FC3 extras CD
because this box had an 'everything' install. VideoLAN said to use
--force and --nodeps (sounds close to rape), which I did happily; it
loads, but doesn't do movies.

With some persistent googling and wget, I've found and downloaded the
contents of the extras directory at RedHat. I plan to install it over
the next couple of days (Tuesdays are busy evenings for me). Maybe I'll
have movies-2-go soon.

This is all very good training for when I eventually make myself a
MythTV box.
