Ok, I figured it out. I set XMMS to use OSS driver and it works perfectly. Same thing I set for mplayer. A year and I thought my sound card wouldn't work =P
Like I tell my underlings at work, it never hurts to ask. It hurts to sit on it yourself for a long time and still not find the solution
I just tried mplayer and it worked perfectly. But Xmms and others either won't play back or still skip. I didn't even need to set the fps in mplayer, it worked perfectly. That is really odd.
I've had that happen on my laptop a few times. I used mplayer and changed it's 'fps' for audio to speed it up, then I found the sound playing too fast, took the options away from mplayer, and everything was back to normal
